My husband and I planned a few days to fish the East and West Branch of the Delaware, the Beaverkill and the Willemoc. we stayed at this motel at the recommendation of the guide we hired through Whitetail Fly Shop, Cross Current Guide Service. The motel is family run and is vintage motel, but very clean, quiet (even with the train tracks), a nice view of the river, convenient to Hancock where there is a nice Italian restaurant, Little Italy II and the Circle E Diner. Just outside of town is a McDonalds. Not too far down 17 is another restaurant, Riverside, but they had limited hours when we visited so we didn't eat there but everyone told us it was good. A bit further is Roscoe with the famous vintage Roscoe Diner and some other eating choices. All around are other hotels, inns, and motels, but we were fine with the location and price at smith's. Be sure to check your hot water in the shower (we had room 10) as they have recently updated their lines and some may need some fine tuning. Also, the best bakery I've been to in a long time is in Livingston Manor, Brandenburg Bakery. This is the real deal and worth the effort. Fishing was good, although the day we floated the river was a torrential rain storm and we had to come off the stream early. The next day we went out on our own and had terrific success along the Beaverkill. Access is very good and we hope to return.
