Bellinger Rose Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 2 Herkimer B&B and Inns
Reviewed 3 June 2011

I'd never been nor heard of Herkimer before, but would gladly make the drive to stay at Bellinger Rose B&B again! Our room was lovely (great Victorian decor), common areas are beautiful, and we enjoyed a private, nighttime soak in the hot tub. My massage was excellent, and it was especially great with the paraffin hand and foot dip. We're still raving about the stupendous dinner we had at the Canal Side Inn--honestly, the best French food I've had outside of Paris, absolutely fantastic, and a 20-minute-or-so ride from the inn. DON'T MISS THIS RESTAURANT! And Chris is an attentive, engaging innkeeper who also gives you lots of space to do your own thing. Great breakfast and company! Will go again.

We just had an excellent experience during an overnight stay at the Bellinger Rose. We stayed in the Tiffany Rose Room. It was clean and roomy. We can't wait to return and just relax in the room. It had a great jacuzzi and gas fireplace. It was very peaceful. The hosts, Chris and Leon were very friendly, but not pushy. You felt like you were at home. The breakfast was five stars!!! We suggest the French Toast. What a beautiful place to stay. A gem in a valley that is known for diamonds!

Our ninth consecutive year at the Bellinger Rose with friends for the annual Utica Boilermaker road race. Always a hectic weekend but the Bellinger Rose is a wonderfully relaxing home base. Chris and Leon always make time to catch up with us for a drink and make us all totally welcome despite their heavy committments that weekend with the race committee and massges. The rooms are comfortable, back yard is beautiful, breakfasts are excellent. Dogs Teddy and Ashley are always willing to go for a walk in the park directly across the street. This year the visit was topped off with a hilarious murder mystery with our hosts and our friends.

A refreshing stay with wonderful hosts and nice guests. Chris and Leon were amazing in many ways. Alwyas attentive to our needs. The breakfasts were amazing. I would recommend the french toast, My husband loved the poach eggs that he had every morning. Chris was warm and whimsical in the morning serving us our breakfast like we were family. The piano music playing from the parlor was a welcoming touch with breakfast. Chris always had a tasty treat left out for later if anyone wanted something to nibble on.While I was there I was able to check out what the other guest rooms looked like and everyone was warm and inviting with a touch of charm added in. We actually stayed in two different rooms, the Tiffany Rose and the Victorian Rose. I can't even make a decion on which one was better. You will love them both..The final touch that made our stay stand out was their two dogs Teddy and Ashley. They were warm, welcoming and very gentle. It was nice coming down the stairs in the morning and being greeted a goodmorning by them. I can not express what a great stay you will have.If there ever was a bad review I can't image why. This was our first time in a B&B and my husband said it will not be our last. When we go back to Herkimer to visit family again that is where you will find us at the Bellinger Rose relaxing with a great room and the most gracious hosts Chris ,Leon, Teddy and Ashley. Chris and Leon if you read this thank you very much for a great time.

We enjoyed our trip to Herkimer. We had no real plans and we were very pleased with the wealth of information the owners of the B & B shared with us. We had a wonderful time site seeing in Cooperstown, and the Herkimer Diamond mines. The suggested boat ride was mystical and the Fly Creek Cider Mill was so much fun.

Breakfasts were great and the rooms were wonderfully decorated in Victorian decor. The house was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed touring all day and the professional massages at the Spa at night.

We loved our stay at the Bellinger Rose! Lovely home -- and delightful hosts. Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect -- we just wish we could have stayed longer! Chris and Leon went above and beyond in making their guests feel welcome and anticipating their every need. If you like a quality B&B, friendly hosts, delicious breakfast, and all around good experience, this B&B is for you. We recommend it highly.

Yeah, sure, gorgeous old house and all, but too much was crammed into too small a space. Bathroom was very awkward, especially shower stall. Closet was almost an afterthought, the way closets were added onto existing rooms back in the day - iron pipes for hanger rods, etc. Frou-frou frilly curtains, spreads, everything - like poor folks playing make-believe. Fancy-schmancy garden/pond thing crammed along side yard, to the front. Hot tub room was really the side porch, kinda skeeved me out - it was off the dining room, which is about as far as we got the first trip down, when we heard voices and realized it was occupied. I don't especially like dogs, but read about them ahead of time, so I was at least warned - still think it's silly for people to fawn all over them. Breakfast was good, but you could tell she was working - seemed like she was our tired, overworked maid. Thought it odd that he just sat around with the dog on his lap. Driveway situation required constant moving of vehicles - maybe should pave over that side yard?
