Enjoy a buffet of breeze and birdsong at cozy Roc Heights Lodge, where multi-talented Omar welcomes guests with warm sincerity. In the morning, you can enjoy a simple breakfast with joyful birdsong filling the garden. There is African art in every corner of this lodge. It feels like an art gallery when you start to notice the details. The lodge are also trying to encourage care for environment and the community. Nice place. Free water in the rooms (which is standard at this price), and bit more for breakfast would make it a 5.

We 2 centred this year, our 3rd visit to The Gambia, a well appointed big complex in Kotu and Roc Heights. We loved Roc, for it’s colonial feel, lovely clean comfortable room, downstairs lounge and interesting mix of people ( there are people working at charity commissions or World Food Organization, and will be out most of day, so it’s quiet). Comfy bed, large washroom, kettle, quiet fridge, desk and good WiFi.
If you’re after 5* Lux all inclusive it’s not your stop, but for a more local spirit like a colonial traveller from the past, it gives you a great feel.
As all others have said, quieter location but 5 mins from front, and Omar and staff look after you like you’re a VIP. No hesitation in returning.

Room Tip: I would imagine they’re all good as ours was basic and more than large enough and well appointed

Stayed for 3 nights.. the room was a good size and it's close to the beach and some bars and restaurants. The staff were friendly. Tea and coffee was provided as was a mozzie net. They provided airport transfers and can arrange sight seeing. There's a lot of staff on-site and the lodge is gated. We had a lot of fun here with the locals and there's a small market area to shop for souvenirs. One of the guys made me a carving to order and the area feels very safe. Also there was a movie channel on TV that I didn't expect.. not that I seen any as we were too busy having fun.. highly recommended.

I was very glad to have found the Roc Heights Lodge, particularly as nearby places didn't seem to be fully operational during the Gambian low-season. It is a beautiful boutique hotel, reminiscent of an Agatha Christie novel, decorated throughout with carpets, rugs, hardwood furniture and flowing drapery. Rooms are very sizeable, each with a sitting area, large bathroom, a very useful fridge, and balcony. The hotel also has a lovely swimming pool, perfect after a long, hot day of sightseeing. The hotel manager was very helpful and friendly, readily available and offering good advice on local travel and sightseeing. It is also situated in an excellent location, very quiet and happily away from the hustlers and bumsters which plague other areas of the coastal tourist resorts in The Gambia. Overall, a wonderful stay, and very very comfortable indeed.

Stayed 2 nights at €49 per night. Roomy studio apartment with small balcony. Fan and air conditioning (switch is behind curtain near balcony doors). Kettle in room with tea and coffee. Omar and staff were great. Comfortable bed with mosquito net. Nice and quiet. Ate at Calypso Restaurant each night - a 5 minute safe walk away near the beach. Paid 800 GMD fixed fare for taxi from airport. Had SIM from airport so not sure how great Wifi was. Shuttle back to airport for GMD 1,000 - took 70 minutes leaving at 4.15pm due to traffic so give yourself plenty of time. Couple of ATM's on way to beach. Hot water (another switch on wall near TV) although with current weather cold was the better option. Pool out of action right now. The late check out very much appreciated
