So good we visited twice during our short time at Kotu this February. Ningki Nangka is a wonderful oasis, the best place to escape bumsters and at the same time get your fix on the free WiFi!! Boss-man Mohammed was kind enough to show us the top floor dining area and, with its spectacular uninterrupted view over the Atlantic, this restaurant surely is one of the most supremely situated in this area. Visiting birders may find this a good position to do a spot of sea-watching from.

We sat and watched Grey-headed Gulls, Sandwich and Caspian Terns pass us by whilst tucking into a Banana Split. The beach is clean and this establishment ensures no-one hassles their guests.

On our second visit the Fruit Platter and Baobab Juice was delicious and just what I needed before the heat of the day. I have attached a photo of one of the menus. Prices are worthy and I would not hesitate to return. Sunbeds are available free of charge and The Gambia is a place where there is always no hurry, so sit and enjoy!

After the hasle on the beach and the road its nice to get away from it all . The food is good as is the beer. The owner keeps a watchfull eye over everything . Everthing is very clean . The toilets especially. Little pricey but you get what you pay for. Very nice staff. It seems like when you first go that waiter has you all the time not a problem as they get to know what your likes are. A thanks to our waiter Fabulous and to the others for a good week.

Ningki Nangka - the only restaurant we've come across that seems unsure how to spell its own name!
Named after a West African mythical dragon, the Ninky Nanki (spelling 2), is a great beachside restaurant situated 500 metres up beach from the main Kotu village. Ningky Nangki (spelling 3) offers a great sanctuary from the main area of the beach and has its own sun loungers and shade and even regularly clean the beach in front of the restaurant.
A well-lit back road from the Kotu village takes offers a five minutes to walk from the main strip.
The roof terrace offers a set lunch menu whilst the ground floor restaurant offers an a la carte menu.
Somewhat bizarrely the roof restaurant offers a single set menu in the evening so if you don’t like a course you are stuck as we were as we had a ‘pescatarian’ with us and the main course was meat. We therefore decamped to the ground floor restaurant where there was a wide range of dishes on offer. Service was attentive but not pushy.
‘Afternoon tea’ of tea and cake is offered from 15:00. Happy hour runs up to 19:00 hours.
Booking strongly recommended for evening.

This wonderful place was recommended to us by other holiday makers, took us a while to find, but was well worth the effort.
This place is in a prime position on the beach, and is kept spotlessly clean, all the staff are friendly and helpful, and the main man Lafi cannot do enough for you, a fantastic place to spend a day on the beach
