If you're looking for a peaceful, charming setting in the Finger Lakes, this hotel is not the place, as it's wedged between Rt. 13 and an unattractive strip mall near the Ithaca Mall. But if you want to be close to the airport or Cornell, or need space for your family, it does the job.
Our suite had a kitchen, small living room area, spacious bedroom with two queen beds and large desk, two high-definition TVs, and free wi-fi. Unfortunately our room fronted Rt. 13, so there was a lot of traffic noise, especially when we arrived Friday night. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything from silverware and dishes to pots and paper towels. The lobby/breakfast area is pleasant (although the hotel seems to possess only one luggage cart). The free breakfast includes an egg dish and two sides (such as potatoes) as well as the usual (bagels, cereal, coffee, juice, etc.)
I prefer a location that is quieter, closer to downtown Ithaca, and not in the middle of an asphalt wasteland, but other than that, no complaints.
TOURIST TIP: This hotel is mere minutes from the world-renowned Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Even if you're not a birder, it's worth a visit. Their scenic property includes several easy, flat, well-cushioned (with wood chips) hiking trails that wind through woodlands, wetlands, and around a pond. There is also a visitor center and gift shop.

As a returning customer of Comfort Inn, my recent visit was an outstanding experience characteristic of the services I received before. I saw additional changes to the services and I wish to acknowledge the remarkable modifications. The front desk receptionist was professional and sincere in her answers about Ithaca’s culture and environment. The Housing personnel provided extra pillows and thermal blankets in case we were going to use the sofa bed. In addition, the coffeemaker did not have a lingering smell of Expresso and the
room was clean and tidy.

I will definitely recommend Homewood Suites Ithaca to other friends and relatives. Thank you once again for the great hospitality service.

We stayed here for 1 night while visiting colleges in the area. It's a pretty decent hotel. We have come to expect a certain standard from Homewood suites and this one delivered. The hot tub was nice and hot, something my husband really enjoys. All in all, I'd definitely stay here again.

We used Homewood Suites as a base for exploring the Finger Lakes. The hotel has many positives: very clean rooms, full breakfasts, lite dinners early in the week and a helpful, friendly staff. We stayed in a King Studio and there was plenty of room to move around for two adults and our pre-teen son.

The hotel is located in a non-descript area off Route 13 abutting Cornell with easy access to the Commons, the Cayuga Wine Trail, the Ithaca Farmer's Market (don't miss it) and many State Parks.

Also, very easy access (and beautiful rural roads!) leading to Watkins Glen and Corning. The only downside was that the indoor pool was not heated...but the hot tub was HOT and there were plenty of towels so you didn't have to take any from the room.

The breakfasts had everything: you could make a waffle every day if you wanted---always access to cereal and fruit and yogurt, the "main" dishes alternated: eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, biscuits. The dinners offered fresh salads each night offered, wine and beer... and, on the nights we stayed: deli, bratwurst and chili: not gourmet but a great way to save money and numerous families took advantage rather than dropping $75 and up eating in town. We would definitely stay here again.

Okay, some tips for you first timers: The Commons (the pedestrian friendly, cafe-ful shopping area in downtown Ithaca) has numerous good restaurants from which to choose. We chose the Ale House (atmosphere of a college bar) and were happily surprised by the very good food. That said, on the night we went (which was only once, and on a Tuesday), the area felt seedy, and some streets leading onto the Commons were deserted and felt downright ominous. Just an impression, probably highlighted by the fact that it wasn't a weekend.

If you love waterfalls, hike Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca and venture forth to Watkins Glen for the State Park. Otherwise, Watkins Glen is a drive-by (unless, I understand, you are into Nascar). If you take the Wine Trail out of town, however, stop at Shtayburne Farms for fantastic cheese and Glenora Vineyards for a gourmet lunch (not expensive) overlooking the vineyards. Some of the vineyards on the trail literally charge $1 for a 6-sample tasting!

The Corning Glass Museum is a gem----numerous demonstrations of glass-making processes and a fantastic gift store. The Gaffer District, a few blocks beyond, is a great attempt at urban renewal and worth an hour after the museum.

We also took in The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Hangar Theatre. Fantastic!

In all, much to do, if you are willing to travel a bit. And Homewood Suites was a great home base and a welcoming place to return to.

Stayed for 4 days while sight seeing in the area. Hotel and room were spotless. The breakfast had lots of items and lots of fresh fruit. The supper snack was very nice- very plan but they had a nice salad with a couple of hot dishes each night. Draft beer, wines and other drinks was also available (this is Monday thru Thursday thing that Homewood does). The cookies that they have were very good. This hotel is definitely a top notch hotel and very reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. Only negative- hotel is right beside busy hwy- ask for room not near this if possible.

When we were in Ithaca, we did not stay at this hotel. Our reason? The reviews on tripadvisor that said it was in a poor location in a strip mall. After visiting Ithaca, I feel I had to post. This hotel is in a great location, close to everything Ithaca has to offer. When we go back to Ithaca we will stay in this hotel. I cannot comment on the rooms but want TA users to know that the location is really good, convenient to everything!

What a treat this hotel was. Clean, friendly, and lots of space. Breakfast was really good. Perfect set up for doing a campus visit as the parents can stay in the bedroom and the prospective college student has the living room. Space is ideal for that age group
