We stayed at the Top of the World Resort and decided to dine in their restaurant one evening. The food was very flavorful and the portions were perfect. We ordered the beet salad and the gnocchi as appetizers to share. They were both delicious. As an entree, I had the chicken francaise which came with risotto and an abundant amount of fresh vegetables, while my husband had the penne with blackened shrimp. He ordered the creme brulee for dessert.
In our opinion, the Adirondack Restaurant at Top of the World Resort far exceeded the experience we had the previous night at George's Restaurant which lacked flavour and hospitality. Additionally, the cost of our meal was significantly less at Top of the World.
Because we stayed at the resort, we also had breakfast included. The quality of the breakfast was every bit as good as our dinner. We were offered muffins, yoghurt, coffee, and juice, as well as a hot meal. The vegetable frittata came with sausages, sauteed spinach and fresh fruit, while the french toast came with walnuts and baked apples, sausages and fresh fruit.
The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. A true sign of excellence is when locals come to the restaurant and bar. We will be returning.

First -- the name of the Restaurant!! not accurate-- it used to be the Grill at Top of the World, preceded by The Farmhouse at the Top of the World---Now it doesn't have any name that I know of-- except the Restaurant at the Top of the World Golf Resort.

Second--we are lucky to live near by, and have eaten there several times this summer. The steamed little clams in a flavorful broth with grilled toast are the the best anywhere.
Tonight we also had the short ribs (pulled meat off the bone) in a dark demi glace with mushrooms, served over a potato pancake. For dessert, grilled pineapple with three petite scoops of fruit sorbet--like the best Italian ice ever.

The view is so marvelous and the bartender, Kathy is so enthusiastic and efficient and fun to be with that we just planned a casual event with appetizers out on the lawn and local musician, Mike LaPoint. The fruit and cheese platters were over The Top, beautifully displayed with a large variety of cheeses and assorted fruits. We also had Buffalo Wings---and specifically requested extra crisp with a mild sauce. These were a huge hit, everyone said (and there were about 30 of us) "Best Ever" . The biggest delight was the short rib meat in phyllo pastry. Bite size bundles of delicousness. The event planner, Lillian, with whom we met a few weeks prior --an amazing gal who kept everything running smoothly between the music and dancing on the lawn. She made us feel this event was just as important as the weddings they hold up there.

A couple weeks ago, we had excellent Duck Leg Confit with grilled asparagus. --Not always on the menu, But duck confit crepes are!

This restaurant is only open til mid October- so we will return often!

We tried to eat lunch there twice this season, both times on a Saturday, & they were closed! They advertise on their website & in local papers open daily 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM saying "perfect for lunch." The first time we chalked it up to being earlier in the season, but last Saturday (July 29th) during the height of the summer?! We expressed this time to the hostess we won't be back, why bother when they always seemed to be closed!

We ate dinner at The Farmhouse Restaurant (Call Top of the World Golf Course) for reservations. Though the menu was quite limited, the food was fantastic--even food for our vegan relatives. Their beet salad was amazing as was their turkey burger. Lovely frites as well. The main dishes (dinner) were wonderful. Excellent service.

Beware folks the restaurant at Top of the World is no longer under the direction of Chef Chelsea! There is a new chef and staff and menu which are all sub par. We gave the new place two tries and we won't be going back again. There was only one waitress working last night and she was undertrained and overwhelmed. Took forever to get our food and when it did arrive it was cold and bland. The menu is printed on a single sheet of paper and is very limited. Hope the owners see this review and make the changes necessary to restore this place to what it once was. Until then we won't be back.

Thank Jean M
