I loved this campground! had a beautiful lake to kayak on, tons of trees all over and the campsites had space in between so you didn't feel claustrophobic..The showers and bathrooms were cleaned and there was plenty of hot water. The staff was very friendly and we did see a park truck drive through at least a couple times each day. There is a family owned little grocery store literally across the road if you run out of something. They made sandwiches there (though we didn't have any) but we did try their chocolate cream pie and it was great! The campground is far enough away from all crowded touristy places but still within a 15 min drive. There is a Walmart super center with 25 min too.

This location is great for a first time camper. There is a picnic table and fire pit at the campsite. You are close to stores and such for last minute supplies. A local comes through the camp with fire wood and ice during the busy days. Near by they can tell you about someone who sells firewood on an honor system. You can collect a ton of wood and leave them money. There are simple convenient bathroom facilities that were walking distance from out site. We were at #8. We had to drive to the showers and they were amazing for a campground! Hot showers at camp! And its nice that they are auto off so you are environmentally conscience but can turn the shower back on if you need more time.

The lake is small, so don't expect a canoeing or kayaking excursion. It is pleasant to be out on the water and there is fishing in the lake.

Overall I would definitely recommend this camp and return!

It was also great that we went during a quiet week right after the 4th of July so it we really got the peace of just being in nature.

When choosing your site number...Look at the map! Know how close you are to other campers and the facilities! And the highway...near the entrance you can hear the cars at night. The further in the better.

Room tip: Really look at the map! Don't camp near the road if you don't want to hear cars.
