Best Western Adirondack Inn

I stayed at this Best Western in September for an end of season golf trip. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, the breakfast was very good, but the location was the best. You can walk to anyplace in the Village of Lake Placid in minutes. I would stay here again and I would definately recomend this hotel to my friends.

Over the years, we have stayed at various levels of best western hotels, mostly in the USA, while on vacation - short or long stays.. Usually, unless the grandchildren with us, we do not use the fitness or pool facilities. So on this last trip, hotels with pools were booked. Our mini vacation to the Adirondacks-Lake Placid area, had high hopes of enjoying the location's pool.

All of us changed, short walk to pool, towels from front deck, and down the stairs we went. At first glance, the pool looked ok, but on closer inspection, I noticed, that this pool was in bad shape (we have pool at home).

The water did not sparkle, the white plastic liner was very dirty and didn't feel good to the touch, the pool liner had large ripes at the corners/sides, someone tried to caulk to do some repairs- made the liner look awful, and when leaving the water---the stairs were slippery.
Five minutes was our stay in the water------what a shame----
especially for all the families with little/big children who love the water/pool or for all who would like to exercise their muscles.

In our room, was very large BUT: the carpet needed to be replaced, the sink/counter was at the height for a five year old to use (bending over all the time was hard on the back), more shelves for suitcase/personal items storage are needed, and old heater in the bathroom needed to be replaced/or taken out.

The final thing, last washroom useage before departing, silverfish was spotted.

On a positive note:
the housekeeping staff was very dedicated, and friendly, and increased our supply of hair product and towels to accommodate all of us.

The continenial breakfast advertised, was very good. First day, Hot: scrambled eggs, sausage patties, Cold: cereal, yogurt; assorted fruits, sweet breads eg. danishes,
white/wheat/bagles for breads. Drinks: cranberry/apple/orange juices, coffee/decaf, asstd teas. All good. Second day, cold hard boiled eggs, pancakes, patties, and all the rest the same.

Because of the pool and silverfish, we would not stay there again.

We have stayed at cheaper BW hotels that were much nicer.

Good reasonable location for the Olympic skating center, walk to town and public
beach on mirror lake, rooms clean, but main areas stuck in the 60's with a slight
musty odor, good size pool, free breakfast was just edible (a lot of sugar and microwave sausage).
Next time we would look for a location without the free breakfast

The rooms are updated, comfortable and clean and the place is in a good location to walk around town. The view from the room is so so.The staff was pleasant except for the front desk attendants who definitely need to work on their people skills. J&J

We have stayed at this hotel for many years visiting for our annual anniversary. The accommodations and services are quite good, but we recently had a unforunate experience.
Hurricane Irene raised river levels around Lake Placid this past weekend, and roads were deemed unsafe for us to drive in the surrounding area. We phoned to cancel, and the hotel says now we did not cancel, that we were no shows, and are taking 28,000 Best Western points from our account!

BEWARE... after all our years of frequenting there we are appalled they would call us liars and also tell us our roads were safe to drive on. We ended up paying for a hotel at another location nearby that we safer. Why would be pay when we could have had a free room! Very mean people under the natural disaster circumstances.

Stayed here over the week-end for golf and biking. The location is great, the staff is friendly, and the rooms (beds) were very comfortable. The pool and sauna were a nice touch for chilling out after a few rounds of golf. They also served a nice continental. We booked this hotel at the very last minute without really knowing anything. You can walk to all the bars and shopping very easily. We had an amazing stay.

Booked it on Expedia and got an average price (we thought) but actually got a "Suite". Very private and separate from the noise of the town.

Two queen beds... living room... desk... en-suite... Private parking. Breakfast was well laid out and much to chose from (loved their cheese cake).

But it is an OLD Inn. It has an OLD SMELL about the whole place. Mildewy-wood smell.

The room had old furnishings and the carpet was old and worn. The floor even had a hole in it under the carpet. The bathroom tub had mildew in it and unless you kept the A/C on... was damp.

There was a TV in the living room and the Bedroom... Not great quality ones but big flatscreen ones.

The attempt was there but fell short for the money. The Comfort Inn up the road where we later stayed was half the price and in some respects a much better quality.

But you pay for location... and thats where this Inn gets you.

Not again unless I get a real deal and always... check the room first.

Room Tip: Expedia gets the best deals... the hotels dont like it :)
