Clean, no frills traveler hotel. BUT it is right next to the subway and trains and is quite loud. It is also not particularly convenient to subway stations. Overall - I would rate this as a "C+" property.

Room tip: Avoid rooms over the subway / train line.

Used to be a Motel 6 and is newly renovated. Very clean and very basic hotel. You get what you pay for. I had a view of train tracks across the street which means you periodically hear a train going by. I’m used to loud city noises at night so it wasn’t too much of a big deal. Their small shop of snacks and drinks and food items is convenient because there is absolutely nothing in the immediate area. No breakfast but there is tea and coffee until 11am. Check out is 11am...I asked for one until 12pm and they charge $20 up until 1pm and $45 after that. No thanks...not worth it. Wouldn’t come back to this hotel as I will pay a bit more to be in the city or with one in the same area that is closer to the subway and has more amenities such as a 12pm check-out and a complimentary one until 12pm.

I live in Westchester County (a suburb of NYC), I booked 2 rooms for my family who were visiting for the weekend. I chose this hotel for it's great value and the location since it's very central to everything and it is in an up & coming neighborhood in Long Island City (Queens). Plenty of banks, restaurants, a few breweries, pharmacy and a few grocery stores within 10-15 minutes walking distance (on Vernon and Jackson Avenues). The 7 Train Line (Hunterspoint Avenue), you can easily transfer to NYC train lines and its only a 10 walk from the hotel. You're in Manhattan (Grand Central) in less than 10 minutes and only 4 stops from Times Square.

Airport: Close to both La Guardia and JFK - both 30 minutes away by Uber ($50) or taxi. Less than an hour by public transport. Newark is about one hour & a half via NJ Transit + NYC Subway or you can cut your travel to Newark by an hour, take the Flushing Bound 7 Train to Woodside, hop on the LIRR from Woodside to NY Penn Station (10 minutes) and Penn Station to Newark Airport (30 minutes).

Rooms: very clean, comfortable beds, good sized bathroom, standard linens. There's a sitting area in some rooms while others have a table/work station. We had a good view of the NY skyline and Queens. No refrigerator but I was really happy they had a safe.

Staff was very accommodating and polite. We requested rooms with a view and they complied. No problems at all.

The hotel sells sandwiches and drinks in the lobby. Sort of like a mini market. I would suggest taking a 10 minute walk to Jackson or Vernon Boulevards and find a supermarket, Walgreens or Duane Reade to grab water, snacks, & sandwiches. There's a liquor store that sells wine nearby, as well.

Food & Drinks: Mu Ramen, Bierocracy, PJ Leahy's, Tournesol, Tuk Tuk, Kavala, Slice, Jora, Bareburger, Slice, Bella Via, 51st St Bakery, Rockaway Brewing Company, Blend on the Water, Water's Edge, Anable Basin Sailing Bar & Grill, Alewife etc.

Parking: plenty to street parking (free) just read the signs carefully.

Note: Take 49th Avenue (West) towards the water, you will have an incredible view of the NYC skyline from Gantry State Park or Pepsi Sign. I'd go during sunrise, sunset or have picnic midday.

Overall, this is a great place to stay due to its proximity to Manhattan and Brooklyn. It's in a safe area and it's close to both the railroad and subway. Also, the hotel doesn't have a huge sign but just look for the building with the American flag.

Room tip: Ask for a room on the higher floors with great views
