As there arent' many options in the area, and it was parent's weekend at Clarkson, we decided to get "out of town" and drive 20 minutes from Potsdam to The Olde Smokehouse.
We made reservations based on other people's reviews, and we were GLAD that we did. The ambience of the place is great: a little noisy, close quarters, country decor with murals on the walls, doors and a cowboy to take a selfie with.
Many of us got ribs, which were great, as were the sides. We definitely could have used more of the cornbread & biscuits that they give (only one complimentary basket) per table. We were surprised at how SLOW the service was though. The waitress appologized for taking so long to take our order, and once we ordered it was a full 30 minutes before we were served. My greenbeans were cold but the ribs were delicious.
All in all, the food was good, but it doesn't warrant a higher rating than "very good.
Would we go back? maybe.
