Clean, comfortable, affordable

Slept well, hot shower, cable TV. Good old school motel. Friendly owner, quiet neighbors, no-frills. You could spend more but what's the point? Sure, nothing is brand-new, But I'd rather not spend an arm and a leg just to travel well rested.

We had a room with two double beds that had old bedspreads and no blankets. No blanket in closet either. The place is very dated with an orange Formica counter in kitchenette area. Bathroom fixtures old but clean. Towels adequate and clean. Mattresses and boxspring were old and gross. Used my own blanket that we had in the car. The owner was accommodating with dining advice and directions to track etc...overall the place was affordable for race dates in Saratoga . I'd consider camping next year

This is something of a mixed review as I feel conflicted - the guy working here (Pete?) that checked us in was extremely helpful, friendly and informative (even though it was very late at night when we arrived), but the accommodation that we had definitely left something to be desired.
We had booked a cabin which (it turned out) was separate from the main lodgings (which were much more like the usual roadside motel offerings). This was both good and bad - the cabin was quiet and felt secluded (even though it was near a main road junction), but it was really quite run-down and would need a fair bit of TLC before it could be considered adequate.
I'd say the cabin needed a lot of work doing to it - there was a lot of damp (including an ominously bulging ceiling tile that looked ready to cave-in at any moment) and all the fixtures and fittings were run down, warped or broken to one degree or another.
There was a cooker in the cabin but nothing to use with it (pots, pans, cutlery, etc) - although there was also a microwave which worked fine (again, no utensils to use though). Not a huge probelm if you're good at adapting to situations.
It's true to say we didn't pay a lot for the experience, but you'd still expect accommodation in better conditon than this was.
I cannot speak for the main accommodation though - this may be perfectly fine as it is more modern and probably in more frequest use (i.e. less out of the way and forgotten about).
I must stress that the guy on reception was lovely and it's worth recommending the place just based on how well he treated us - please do give the place a go as it's just down from the Malta Drive-In Theater, which is definitely worth a visit.

We use locust grove motel IN SEASON for rooms while attending the saratoga races. The place hasn't changed in years although ongoing maintenance things are obvious such as the repaired asphalt//My girlfriend and I go there at least twice during the race season. locust grove motel is well located/Peter and his staff are outgoing enough and summer continental breakfast gets our day started.Try breakfast sandwiches at the deli next door very good/dunkin donut fans drive about a mile to nearest shop. Its not an intown hotel but it suits our needs to a tee.

Room tip: ask for first floor//non ssmoking/there are two floors outside staircase

We planned a last minute trip to Saratoga and needed somewhere to stay. I was able to book the Locust Grove through Hotels.com for 1/4 of the price it would've cost to stay in downtown Saratoga. Not to mention it only took us about 6 minutes to get to Saratoga. The owner was on-site and allowed us to check in early since we were coming from out of town. The room was clean and the staff/other occupants were kind. The area was safe and conveniently located. We will absolutely return to this motel for future trips because it was a great find!

This place is God awful. The good reviews written about this place must be from the owners or the employees. As soon as I walked in the door the stench hit me. I immediately left to get some candles to burn to combat the smell. The carpet is disgusting with stains and rips. The wall had holes in it, and the bathroom was unbearable. I did not shower that night for fear of staph infection or something. Needless to say the night was unpleasant with little sleep. We left at first light just to get out of there. We talked to the locals about the place and they said it was called "the welfare place". This place is nasty, dirty, and apparently has mice because as we were packing to leave, we saw the traps by the refrigerator. its a good thing we didn't catch one in the night, because that would have completed the night for me. Never again. I don't care how desparate we are.
