Breakers is the best experience you'll get out east hands down. Amazing location (steps from essentially private beach), great food (Seamore's), and all around good vibes. Will be back next season for sure.

We stayed at the Breakers last year for Labor Day and were excited to see the beautiful renovations of the cottages this season. The rooms are pretty, well appointed, with a beach chic vibe. They've removed the large fridge and stove (there are two electric burners though) and most of the grills on the property are gone too. The new management seems to want folks to spend time at the restaurant and less time doing what Breakers is known for (grilling, enjoying peaceful vibes). The Breakers seems confused on strategy at this point -- we paid ~$750 a night (including fees and taxes) apparently to not have the peaceful relaxing experience they've promoted for years. Each night our deck and front lawn area were overrun with the unsupervised children of patrons of Seamore's (the restaurant on premises). Nannies and parents dining at Seamore's seemed to think the front lawn of Breakers were for the pleasure of their kids and turned it into a Gymboree each night. Very convenient for Seamore's patrons, very distracting and annoying for Breakers guests. There needs to be onsite management through 10pm for the restaurant ensuring Seamore's guests stay on Seamore's premises. Seamore's could care less that Breakers guests were being disturbed by their patrons. Kids from the restaurant were running on motel decks and playing with motel guests' children's playthings.
Overall it's not clear what Breakers is going for... at ~$750 a night we expect more than just the attractive renovations- we came for the peace and quiet of Montauk- which we had last year but sadly missed this year due to mismanagement at Seamore's and random events on the motel property. Management seems more concerned with hosting events for other companies (including a rather raucous group outdoor dinner for a sportswear brand) than the comfort of motel guests. At the very least inform guests at the reservation stage that these events are likely to take place. We'll be going down the road to Gurneys for a higher price point ($1050/night) to get the experience we want. Breakers, without paying more attention to motel guests and their wants, don't try to compete in the higher end market, you will lose to better run establishments. Love the renovations though - definitely more attractive rooms this season.

This place was absolutely adorable! It had everything you needed all in one place. The cottages have plenty of space to unpack, unwind, and relax. The pool area offered lounge chairs and towels, and the patios are a perfect way to gather with friends and family outside. Overall, I truly loved staying at Breakers!

The Breakers Motel breathes 'Hip' Montauk lifestyle. Its newly refurbished and still going through some changes but we absolutely LOVED our stay! Book now as for sure this motel come hotel will become a hip place for the 'in crowd' to stay when in Montauk and surrounding area's.

The new team are working hard to deliver a really great experience... Our cottage - number 9 was really amazing - loved the clean crips style and small touches that make it such a great experience. I cant speak highly enough about where the new owners want to take the concept ... The cottages are really nicely done and there are more developments on the way!

The pool was great and the DJ through the day pumping out sensational music... The Breakers has this ability to transport you into a 'surf' and beach culture with a really chilled out attitude. You can drink rose or cocktails on your deck by your cottage/room or by the pool... Even better you can literally cross the road and walk for miles on the beautiful beach.

I am really hard to impress when it comes to hotels but The Breakers goes to show its not all about 5 start luxury and big budgets ... the owners are visionaries and looking to create a lifestyle in what was obviously a run down shabby 2 start motel... its now NO stars because its focused on creating an experience to match the Montauk lifestyle... I think by next season The Breakers will be the place to stay!

Loved it! Go and enjoy.... BUT book now for next year.

We stayed at Breakers the last week of July to celebrate our anniversary. We read so many mixed reviews we didn't know what to expect. Well we were pleasantly surprised. From the friendly staff, to the immaculate, adorably decorated bungalow, to the relaxed atmosphere, every aspect of our stay was amazing. We highly recommend staying at Breakers and will be back before the season is over! ❤️
