While the location can't be beat I think the management of this property needs to fine tune quite a few things. We rented three rooms and two were lovely; one was in the "cottage" and looked like an afterthought. You can't do much about the size and ceiling heights of rooms that were built that many years ago but bland white walls, white linens (mediocre, not high end) and basically no decor did nothing to help the room. Dinner that night at the restaurant was a joke. The waiter was pleasant but not very professional and the food was OK, nothing great. Service at the bar was OK but the same cocktail ordered by two different people, served by the same bartender, came in two completely different glasses. The pool was out of towels in the middle of the day and the lifeguard kept saying someone would bring more. This never happened despite at least ten people asking for towels. Couldn't she have called someone? All in all the Montauk Yacht Club has the makings of a great resort but falls very short, especially for in season prices.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with the outdoor deck and the chaise that face the marina.

I was a little nervous after reading reviews before we went. Happily we feel very different. We truly enjoyed our stay here. The room was very clean and serviced each day. We had many questions to ask at the front desk and all were happily answered. We stayed Friday night thru to Sunday morning. We had a beautiful view of the water and because we were upstairs, a lot of privacy on our deck. I so enjoyed spending time there. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and so was the service. There were weddings going on two nights in a row and yet we weren't inconvenienced. I do have one complaint and one idea. The airconditioning in our room was set on 72 degrees. During the night it would go on and then off to a much warmer degree. So i did wake up at times to chuck my blanket off and then wake up again to pop it back on.
One suggestion would be that they could mount a magnified mirror on the side wall of the sink. Thus, trying to put my makeup on, while leaning over the sink would be wayyyy easier. I have noticed that high end places now do this.
Again, the food was delicious. One day we ordered a pizza and ate it on our deck.
Sooo good!!! So to end this i will just say.......We will definitely go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: i like the 2nd floor rooms better for more privacy

We decided to spend Rosh Hashonna weekend at MYC. 4 generations ranging from 16 months to 84 had the best time. The location was great. The rooms were lovely - great beds! The food was delicious and the caring staff was attentive without being obtrusive. A special shout out to Matt at the Front Desk and Meredith in Food and Beverage who couldn't have been more hospitable. Highly recommend.

MYC has a great location and good food -- but service is poor and the place is a mess. Rooms are nice and housekeeping was fine -- but outside the rooms there were dirty plates everywhere left for hours and hours (in hallways, poolside, on tables on the deck, etc.). I had to ask the staff to remove broken glass from an outdoor seating area, where dirty cushions were left unattended for days. Slovenly is the word for it, and at these prices you expect a lot more. The pool and lakeside beach were overcrowded -- clearly not enough lounge chairs is a persistent complaint and yet nothing is done. This could be a great place if they would kick service up more than a few notches and listen to their patrons. Also, upon checkout, their printer wasn't working and they said they would email a copy of final charges. Three weeks later, I had to call to ask them to send.

Room Tip: Don't stay by lake beach or you will have to deal with looking at food debris for hours on end a...

My wife and I enjoyed a nice post hurricane Irene getaway here and enjoyed it very much. We had one issue during our stay which was the seating at the pool. This ver small and cramped area packs up quickly but we were able to eventually get lounge chairs here as the other pool was closed for Irene clean up.
The room was clean and nice with standard amenities, nice vies and decent bathroom.
The food was also fine. We had one meal there and the rest we ate at some local restaraunts (Navy Beach was very good).
Overall we will go back as we initially planned for the two of us, we will bring our child next time. The resort was very child friendly and they really seemed to enjoy it there. See you next summer !

We stayed here for Labor Day weekend just after Hurricane Irene and were not disappointed.
Let's start with the plus column: Location.
Right on Lake Montauk with great proximity to down town via shuttle or 5 minute car ride. Great proximity to beaches, again shuttle or car. Easy ride/walk to Gosman's too. Right at the marina so easy to hop on your boat (if you have one) or charter boats.
Second plus: Food.
We had dinner each night in the main restaurant called the Gulf Coast Kitchen. They had a great menu and everything we had was delish. Try the Baked Oysters and the Gnocchi. The breakfast buffet was just ok, nothing really special but it was fresh. Lunch at the outside bar was ok. Pizza was a little gross, but the burgers and lobster rolls were yummy.

On to the rooms: we stayed in 103/104 suite which is like 2 connecting rooms (one had a king and the other had a pull out sofa) the beds were fine and we slept well but the pull out was really uncomfortable. They could use a foam mattress/feather bed on top. We didn't think to as for anything, so I'm not sure they have it. The kids didn't complain, this is purely an observation on my part. The bathrooms were weird. The tub/shower are in a tiny room with the toilet hidden behind the door. There is barely enough room for the door to open. There are nice shelves next to the sink to hold toiletries, but no vanity since it is a pedestal sink. There is a big closet/ dressing area which is really wasted. With some basic carpentry the whole area could be remodeled into something a lot nicer and user friendly. Our room overlooked the small beach on the property with a nice view of the end of the marina.
On to the property: The beach sits on Lake Montauk which is actually more like a bay (saltwater with access to the ocean via the inlet). The waters are very calm and that's great for the little ones to play in. There are some paddle boats and two kayaks for you to use (first come first serve) along with some shareable life vests. One major annoyance was the lack of a faucet to rinse off after spending time at the beach. This resulted in lots of little sandy feet in our rooms. The pools were fine for the amount of people at the resort. They were clean and monitored by lifeguards. The pool near the villas was much quieter than the one near the bar (obviously), but the one near the bar had poolside service for drinks and food. There was a nice big grassy area for playing and a nice playground for the kids. At night they lit some fire pits which was nice for making S'mores.
We ordered a s'mores kit from our waiter at dinner and had dessert on the beach. Lots of fun...
On to check in: we were disappointed that we were made to wait until exactly 4pm to get our room keys. We arrived at 2:30 and were told our room was still being cleaned. My husband kept on checking back with the man working the desk, but the room was not ready each time. I don't recall him picking up the phone to call any one to check the status of the room, but at exactly 4 it was ready. Just a little fishy...

There are no organized kids activities/club which would be nice.

Just an FYI- the property is dog friendly. If you are allergic or afraid you might want to consider somewhere else. We saw them at the beach, pools, and walking on leashes with their owners. We love dogs so this was not an issue for us.

The bottom line is we will be returning next summer/fall and are looking forward to it.
