Rosehill Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 1 New Rochelle B&B and Inns
Reviewed 14 April 2015

My wife and I stayed at the Rosehill B&B for two nights. The B&B is in an older Tudor house in a very nice, very quiet neighborhood. Parking is available right out front. The house is spotlessly clean; our room (the room without the en suite bathroom) was large and airy, and the bed was very comfortable. The (private) bathroom was immediately adjacent to the door of our room, and was large. Wireless internet access is free. The owner, Lisbeth, was very pleasant, and both arrival and departure were a breeze. The only negatives are that (a) the TV in the room is very, very small, and (b) our bed had a high footboard, meaning that to stretch out, anyone over 6'2" has to be on a diagonal. However, in consideration of the many positives and the reasonable price, this is an excellent spot. If you are looking for something other than the Marriott (or the like), this is a very good choice.

My husband, our son, our son's girlfriend, and I recently stayed four-nights at this lovely B&B. Our host, Lisbeth, was pleasant, gracious, and helpful. When making inquiries and reservations over the last few months, she promptly returned all telephone calls and emails.

The house is a Victorian charmer, with a slate roof, bright/airy rooms, and lovely grounds. Situated in a nice neighborhood of large, older homes, the street is quiet, and there is little traffic. Parking is free, and is on the street in front of the house.

The three bedrooms are located on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. There is no elevator. The rooms are quite large, very quiet, and comfortably furnished. Two of the bedrooms have separate ensuite bathrooms, while the bathroom for the third bedroom is located just outside the door in the hallway. One bedroom has a pull-out sofa bed. The bathroom fixtures are original to the home, and the water pressure in the showers is great. You'll find plenty of towels in each bathroom, as well as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a hair dryer. If you're in need of an iron, just ask Lisbeth!

Each room has a big, comfortable bed; fluffy duvets; plenty of pillows; large dressers; roomy closets with plenty of hangers; and, air-conditioning for the summer months. The bed in our room was king-sized, and it was a thoughtful touch to have two smaller duvets on the bed rather than one large one. There is a TV in each room. The floors are hardwood, and may squeak if you have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom!

In the downstairs space, guests have use of the large living room, the attached sunroom, and the dining room. All of these areas are spacious and nicely furnished.

A continental breakfast is available from 7:00 AM. When we were guests, we had our choice of three types of cold cereal with milk; several flavors of yogurt; fresh bananas and cups of diced peaches; English muffins; some delicious whole-grain bread for toast; a variety of marmalades and jams; peanut butter; Laughing Cow soft cheese; orange juice; tea; and, fresh coffee. Everything was fresh and well-presented. The coffee was exceptionally good!

The Metro-North train station is a short and easy 10 minute drive from the B&B. Parking at the parking garage costs $1 per hour. You park your car, take note of your space number, and then follow the step-by-step instructions on the parking-meter machine, located by the elevator. If you're traveling on the trains on the weekends, park anywhere in the garage. If you're going into NYC during the week, head up to the top floor of the garage, as lower levels are all reserved spaces from Monday to Friday. During our stay, we traveled to New York City on two days, and found that $17 per day for parking was just right for us…we didn't worry about getting a ticket.

Off-peak train tickets to New York City are $7.50 one way from this station. Since there were four of us traveling round trip on two days, it was cheapest for us to get a combination of a 10-trip ticket, plus a few round-trip, day-return tickets. The friendly man at the ticket window can help you figure out the cheapest way to travel into the city. He was kind and very helpful! The ride into Grand Central Station took approximately 36 minutes.

This B&B is a wonderful gem in New Rochelle, and is located a short train ride away from New York City. I would highly recommend this B&B…we hope to return someday in the future. Thank you, Lisbeth, for your kind hospitality!

I stayed one night at Rosehill. I did not meet Lisbeth due to her schedule and mine though I might add she is pleasant to speak with. The bedrooms are on the second floor, and only the master bedroom has a private bathroom, while the second bedroom which I did not see, has a bathroom in the hall. I found the bed comfortable and the neighborhood is in a lovely part of New Rochelle. The area is extremely quiet and the house is on a cul-de-sac. I am older and found it difficult for me to walk the stairs. For older people, there is not a railing to hold onto while going down the steps outside. The house was clean and well kept. The best part of staying at Rosehill is how affordable it is. I arrived while the cleaning staff was there and they were super nice and helpful.

We were in town for a wedding, and found this wonderful B & B, in a big old Victorian home in a residential neighborhood just north of NYC, perfect for our needs. Our rooms were very spacious, and nicely appointed, and the landlady could not have been more helpful.
Though we could have driven in, to get into The City, we drove 5-10 min to the Pelham train station (New Rochelle's train station is just as close) -- from which it was only 25 minutes on Metro-North to Grand Central station.

Room Tip: Though it was nice to have, it really isn't necessary to pay the extra for the Master Bedroom wi...

Quiet and tranquil, comfortable bed and pillows, and overall very clean. Would definitely return.
Also, very good value.

Very, warm and welcoming home. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms wonderfully old style. Breakfast was scrumptious. House was immaculate. As many others noted it is a great place to stay and extremely affordable. The only down side we had was the mattress. Now this could have been because we both could loose some weight, but, I felt it needed a bit more support. But, this is not enough to keep us from coming back again, nor, enough to give it anything less than a 5.

Room Tip: Both room are nice. The one with the king has a private bathroom. The one with the queen/double ha...

We stayed at Rosehill B&B and found it to be just like home. Pretty and serene furnishings, ample room in our bedroom and a charming neighborhood. Our hostess was very hospitable and the continental breakfast was yummy. We will go back soon! Did I mention that it's a hop-skip-and-jump to New York City by train. This is a great find!

Room Tip: We saw two of their guest rooms and both are quite nice.
