I've given 3 starts because over the last couple of years that I have visited it has been fine. However, we visited (myself and 2 children) last Saturday and the service was really poor. When we arrived the lady said it would take 5 minutes to get a seat (there were a couple of tables free) but they needed cleared and that was fine. Two minutes later and we had a seat and that was great. However, it took another 25 minutes to get our orders taken and 35 minutes to get our food. Although people had come after us (about 4 others - and ranging from 2 people to 5) we were the last served lunch. When it came it was all pretty well-cooked - like it has done been sitting under heat while waiting. My son XL burger, was in fact, only 1/2 a burger well-hidden in the roll. When we went to pay - I discovered they had added two extra meals to the bill. It was not a great experience and although Ive been there several times in the past (more due to location than anything else - its the only restaurant in Capestang on the side of the canal - I will not be eating there again in a hurry.

Not a destination restaurant but in a fab location in a very pretty village on the Canal du Midi. We stopped here on the way back from Minervois which did not have one restaurant open on a Wednesday in early October. If we had been on a boat we would definitely have stopped here for a beer or two and moules frites (15.30 euros for a major portion of both mussels and chips actually) and not been disappointed. Demi pression at 3.30 euro a glass a bit steep but half a litre pichet of Rosé at 6.90 reasonable. Prices reflect the location but are not wholly outrageous. Nice friendly efficient service; good ambiance but more of a Café than a Brasserie; no fault there though and would recommend this to anyone cruising the Canal.

We ate here as a group of 8. Despite other reviews, we were treated very well and our food was most acceptable. This was an evening meal not in high season. The choice was perfectly adequate for our party. No one complained about their food which was well cooked and tasty. Not a pretentious plate of drizzles and fresh air but decent food. Price was reasonable for this part of the country.

Lovely spot on the canal, friendly down-to-earth staff, good food - huge salads especially recommended. House wine a little thin, but plenty of other choices. Look forward to another visit,

Stopped in Capestang for a visit with 5 friends. Since we parked our barge across from LA Bateliere, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed.
