Oia is everything that people say it is, and Ifestio is the perfect place to stay while visiting. If you're thinking of stayin in Fira -- don't. Oia is everything that Santorini is supposed to be and everything that Fira is not. It has enough tourists that they are accostomed to you, but its not (yet) TOO crowded. Oia can get crowded during midafternoon when all of the tour groups roll though and during the sunset (particularly up at Amoudi... Personally, the sunset is overrated, though I'm from LA where beautiful beach sunsets are a daily occurance).
Ifestio is the perfect place to stay in Oia, with a breathtaking view of the caldera. It is one of those traditional "cave house-villas" - be prepared to walk up/down lots of stairs to get to it. The apartment is all classic Greek blue and white, and even the floors are marble. The rooms are spacious, and Katerina stocks the fridge and cupboard for breakfast. Having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the caldera is an absolute joy. The bathroom is clean and the shower is reasonable (though not luxurious). Katerina was very friendly, and had plenty of little gifts for our honeymoon. In the end, it was the ideal honeymoon stay.More
