This is an overdue review but wanted to put it out there about how we loved our stay at Great Pines at the beginning of July. It is a spectacular setting, right on Fourth Lake. Our room was a small cabin overlooking the lake. The continental breakfast was decent. We loved lunch and dinner at the Lean-To (the more casual of the 2 restaurants). We did not eat at the Lodge (their fine dining restaurant) so can't comment on that. The owners were super friendly - offering lots of interesting information on the history of the lodge as well as information on the area. We brought our dog who loved playing with the owner's dog! There is beautiful dock at the water - good for swimming off of or sunbathing. You can bring your canoes/kayaks but they also rent. We did not want to leave this special place. We will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms on the water in the cabins are small but very nice.

My wife, boys (11 & 13) and I spent a night here after a day hiking in the Indian Lake area. The room was clean and comfortable and although the place was full, it was very quiet and laid back. There is no formal swimming area but the staff encouraged us to enjoy the lake from the large dock so we did! A dunk in the lake after a long day was very refreshing. There are two dining options and we chose to eat at the casual Lean-To. There was live music and a nice craft beer selection to go along with the ample selection of pub fare (burgers, pizzas, tacos, etc.) and after a long day of hiking, we enjoyed every last morsel. We finished the evening sitting by a lakeside bonfire and discussing when our next stay here would be. We'll certainly be back again.

Awesome place! A group of friends all went up for a relaxing Adirondack trip, the staff was very friendly, and helpful, the room were clean, the views were great. And the bar room was gorgeous. I highly recommend this place, we will all definitely be back again soon.

Situated on a bluff over beautiful Fourth Lake, Great Pines was everything we expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. The entire property was done in a rustic lodge motif, complete with the moose head over the river stone fireplace and pinewood walls in the guest room. Loons on the lake and Adirondack chairs around the firepit completed the ensemble. Beds were extremely comfortable.

Room Tip: Would suggest a room with a view of the lake.

We stayed here for two nights in July and were disappointed. We wanted to like this place more.

The location is nice and looks over the lake, but it is right off the highway. The food at both restaurants was good but service is lacking professionalism. Lean To is cozy inside and there is a nice view from the deck. The Lodge is very nice, we had a delicious (but expensive) meal there. Continental breakfast was typical.

The grounds are nice, but as one guest commented, the mulch was down to the dirt, landscaping fabric exposed, the pool was closed during peak season. Also, if your room is close to the lodge you'll hear the very loud fan from the back of the restaurants.

The bedroom was not great, we arrived to find a number of rips in the screen, which had allowed flies and bugs to get in the room. We went to the front desk to ask about this and someone promptly came with duct tape to "fix" the rips. The room itself is a bit old and tired, with unusual lighting and no mini fridge. It would be nice to have a mini fridge to keep wine, beer, snacks, and milk to have with coffee in the morning.

The bathroom was unacceptable. Cracked tiles just waiting to cut a foot, shower nozzle did not work so the shower would slowly turn off while in use, light fixture was broken, the heater was rusty and the side panels were falling off. When the cleaning staff came in the morning they asked if we wanted anything done to the room, which felt a bit odd, awkward, unprofessional. They made beds but didn't take out the garbage or bring us new towels.

We decided to politely and discreetly speak to the front desk about our concerns after the first night. The woman we spoke with said she'd speak to management but we didn't hear anything throughout our 2nd day/night or upon checkout. When we checked out we again expressed our disappointment, which made the woman at the front desk defensive, flustered and overwhelmed. She said she had the authority to give us $25 off. I guess that's something. Overall, what we really wanted was an acknowledgment of the issues, an apology and a bit of professionalism in handling the matter.

The place unfortunately isn't as nice as the website or the price would suggest.

With more attention to detail in service and facilities, and a touch of professionalism, this place has a lot of potential.

Great staff---friendly and warm. Food at the Lean To was awesome even though there was quite a wait. When the food came it was hot and fresh. Wonderful view of the lake from my cabin window. Bedding was fresh and clean. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for that Adirondack mountains feel.

This place is awesome! My family of four stayed in one of their rooms w two queen beds - for a week. The room was very clean and had super comfy beds and linens. The lodge was gorgeous w a front porch sweeping and endless view of fourth lake. Nice seating areas on the porch and around a bonfire overlooking the lake. The Lean To restaurant and bar had great food and amazing views w occasional live music. The dock provided countless hours of kayaking and paddle board fun. Most of all the staff was so kind - by the end of the week they felt like family and we were so sad to leave.
