Basta opened about 3-4 years ago in Ossining, NY. They offer hands down the best Italian food in the area! Their pizza is “real” pizza, the way it should be made Neapolitan style. This means thin, crispy base, thick bubbly outer crust. We get pizza, panini is, pasta there on a weekly basis. It’s that good. They grow many of their own veggies, herbs, work with local farmers within a few miles to bring you the freshest ingredients possible. Everything handmade to order here, no assembly line, canned sauce, fake cheese. You can even request gluten-free, call ahead and talk about any allergies, concerns you might have. You’ll find friendly, helpful owners, staff at reasonable prices. You can pay the same for canned sauce, lousy pizza, assembly line, with rude owners and employees. Give me Basta over that - real food, made with love and the utmost care! Located a few blocks off Route 9A, convenient for anyone in the area. Tiny place, if you have a large party eating in, I’d call ahead so as not to overwhelm staff and insure supper accommodations. I’m so happy they opened in our area and make sure to take advantage often as possible, supporting small area business and bringing great food, fabulous service to our little village. Reminds me of the days when family owned businesses cared about what they cooked, and their customers. Try it, I guarantee you will walk away making sure to return soon!
