Roasted Duck, Steak Frites, ... all the French bistro classics are prepared here deliciously. This place has been around for decades. It has always been good and it has even gotten better over the years with a beautiful extension into what used to be a cigar shop next door. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Just make sure you get your drinks before you listen to the 5 minute description of dozens of specials. My only small complaint is that the wines by the glass are a bit limited so we usually order a bottle or get cocktails.

Every course was creative, visually beautiful, delicious. Servers are excellent. The little hot rolls are wonderful, served hot with crunchy crust. The fried oyster appetizer is amazing, served in the shell, with spicy mayo, cold crisp veggies, and topped with caviar; and fried for just a moment. Decor is charming. Try for a table that has more space around it than most; a bit crowded.

Wish they offered desserts that were more like pastry and less like creme brûlée. But that’s just me.

Nice room, great brunch. Good service, good food! We were able to relax and visit with friends over a great meal, with no rushing from the very accommodating staff. The room is very pleasant.

It upsets me that after several years of many lovely evenings enjoying Joe's delicious cuisine I must rate our latest experience as average or less. (This does not reflect Chef's cuisine.)
While the expansion is lovely and the bar is always packed, my rating reflects three important matters: Service. Uncomfortable booth seats. Noise.
What happened to the excellent wait staff that we enjoyed for years? It is as if the wait staff has had no training or simply do not care. We had a reservation and we waited 35 minutes to be seated in our requested traditional section. By the way, there is no space in which diners can wait. Once seated, we waited for another 15 minutes for a wait person to ask about drinks or bring water. Finally menus arrived, orders placed and more waiting. Once our meals arrived, she popped by once asking if we needed anything and yes, we wanted more wine, which never came. We finally asked the hostess for our bill. THEN the waitress came saying she was sorry, but was so busy, blah, blah, blah.
I have spoken to many people who have had the same experience with the service and they have not returned either. The uncomfortable booth added to an unpleasant evening. The noise from the expanded bar area is intrusive. Sharing a meal with friends and conversing is part of our social wiring. Forget conversing unless you do not mind being overheard by everyone since talking very loudly is required.

I am not sure when we will return to what was our favorite restaurant for years. Perhaps, the service is back to its excellent standard. If so, we would enthusiastically return as regulars to continue enjoying Chef's amazing cuisine.

Le Petit Bistro is not as petit as it once was. It has doubled in size with its recent expansion. But the cuisine has remained excellent. The expansion is basically a new bar with some seating. The food is authentic, varied and exceptionally delicious. It was no competition in the area.
