“Lovely B&B, great location, wonderful breakfast, and fun hosts!”
Reviewed 10 April 2011

My husband and I were looking for some place special to celebrate his birthday. We wanted to stay within an hour of Buffalo. We saw this place on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. We were glad we did. Susan and Manny were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their family's home. There were snacks in the room, bottled water, and all the tea and coffee you could ever want. Park Avenue has many great places to eat. We loved Magnolia's Deli. It has a huge menu, something for everyone's taste. Try the sesame salad. It was the best salad I have ever had. The very best thing about this B&B was the breakfast. One word-outstanding! There was fruit, french toast, cereal, oatmeal, orange juice, coffee, tea, and oh yeah, english muffins and toast. We left very full and very happy. We can't wait to go back.

My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night in 2007. We decided to come back for Valentine's day this year to treat ourselves. As was the case on our first stay, our experience here was wonderful. The rooms are beautiful. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which I LOVE. The entire B&B is incredibly clean. I am definitely a clean freak, and check the corners and edges for dust, etc. and this place was spotless. The innkeepers are very friendly and the food is amazing. Everything they brought us, from appetizers the night before to breakfast the next morning, was delicious. The one thing I would say is that the appetizers were a bit more expensive than we anticipated, however, my husband asked them to step up their usual platter without asking the price, so the surprise on the bill could have been avoided if we'd clarified ahead of time. Their location is great if you are doing things in the City and want to visit local attractions. It's not particularly scenic, though. If you are looking for a nature-filled retreat this might not be what you are looking for. Overall, my husband and I both LOVE coming here and will definitely be back again.

A beautiful home where the Inn keepers pay attention to every detail. The home was spotless, quiet and very welcoming. Breakfast every morning was on time and included unique fare that exceeded our expectations. You can't beat the location and I will definitely stay there again when in Rochester.

Needing a place to stay for our grandsons first birthday, my wife found this jewel in Rochester, NY. Arriving in the middle of January, we were met with a smile and a warm welcome in the driveway by a smilling Manny, who was shoveling snow out of the driveway. Walking up the front stairs, we were in awe of the beauty of this historic house. Our room was spacious, warm & comfortable. The breakfasts were great and Manny even shared one of the receipes with us. A true treat and we would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. Also, Fidel (the dog) was very friendly.

The Edward Harris House is located on a lovely quiet, tree lined street between the grand East Ave (museums, planetarium, etc) and the hip, happening Park Ave. Both are accessible by foot within minutes. The house itself is truly beautiful. Previous reviews were very accurate by mentioning just the right of decoration, but still practical for the traveler.

My husband and I stayed only one Saturday night in The Madelyn, the only room available when we made the reservations. It was up a beautiful staircase at the end of a hallway overlooking the garden, with a great chair for reading tucked next to the window and fireplace.

Breakfast was even better than expected. A true treat and served with very friendly, yet professional and polished staff.

The only 'complaints' (though that seems too strong of a word) is that we noticed the bathroom did have stray hairs on the shower wall, but not to say that it was dirty. Also, the bed was squeaky and the quilt, though it looked great, felt very scratchy and wasn't a quality, warm product.

We arrived in the late afternoon to a friendly note on the door and our room key nearby with instructions on where to park and an invitation to move in. The house was clean, quiet and lovely. Our room (garden suite) was large, relaxing and very comfortable. My husband and I had lived in Rochester for years (9+) and were returning for Meliora weekend. We loved the convenience of the neighborhood, the walkable access to shops and museums and favorite places. Susan, Manny and Heather did everything to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Their pride of ownership is evident. We enthusiastically recommend the Edward Harris House to anyone planning to visit Rochester.
