Definitely a cut above your typical Doubletree. It tries to exude about as much of a hipster vibe as Rochester is capable of mustering. But at no point do you feel like you've walked into a party that you weren't invited to.
Check-in was efficient, friendly and, of course, mindful of giving out the requisite cookie. Without hesitation, one woman working at the desk offered to make a reservation at a restaurant we had asked about.
I wound up in a huge suite with a living room, kitchen and two terraces. The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable, while the spotless bathroom had ample plush towels and just the right water pressure.
A nice add-on for the breakfast buffet (I had a voucher) was the offer from the extremely friendly server to have eggs made to order if I didn't want scrambled (over easy for me, thank you). If you're paying, breakfast is a little on the high side, so if you're with a family you might want to take a short walk down East Avenue or get in the car to Denny's or a diner (free valet parking).
Overall, though, one of the top lodging choices in the city, especially if you don't need to be at a particular hotel for a conference or convention. Having that choice will enable you to appreciate Rochester more than you otherwise would have.More
