The hotel is located in the center of business district and is in walking distance to many restaurants and stores. Hotel is very clean, updated (though historic buliding), beds are extremely comfortable. 2 restaurants on site with exceptional dining, at reasonable price. Great NY wine list. The staff is exceptional and the amenities are excellent. This was an exceptional experience .

Stayed here the night before a flight out of Syracuse. The hotel is beautiful. Stepping into the lobby is like stepping back in time in a grand ball room. The rooms were spacious and clean and the front desk staff friendly. The area seems questionable, at best. My husband went for a walk to go find something for dinner. As soon as he stepped out of the hotel he witnessed someone across the street being taken away in handcuffs. Sirens could be heard throughout the night.

Marriott Syracuse Downtown is a beautifully restored grand hotel of a bygone era. If you read the history that is provided in one's room, you will understand why it deserved (deserves) the name it was called - Hotel Syracuse.

The service at the front desk, bellhop, valet, cleaning, and maintenance was 5 stars. Special thanks to Chandler who made breakfasts in the Platinum/Gold member area particularly enjoyable.

It was an easy drive to Syracuse University where I spent much of my visit.

The attractive bedroom, as well as the living room, are a good size with furniture that is appropriate for the hotel's style. What is needed is a larger armoire. The bathroom, although beautifully done with basket weave patterned floor tile, subway shower tile, wainscotting, pedestal sink and wall mounted magnifying mirror is too narrow. The shower stall is a nice size but the opening is partially blocked by the toilet. The room can use some open shelving between the shower and the sink to hold a guest's toiletries.

There is a nice exercise room, but no pool.

I would definitely stay at "Hotel Syracuse" again.

When we checked in last weekend at around 1:30pm, the individual working at the front desk was rude and unfriendly. We were told that our rooms would not be ready until 3:00pm. Since we had a formal event we needed to attend at 3:00 we were told that we could change into our formal wares in one of the bathrooms. Very very unpleasant. Otherwise, the hotel was nice. It took someone with vision and courages to renovate the old falling apart grand hotel into something that is suitable for habitation. The hotel retains a lot of fine architecture details, especially, the lobby and the guest room doors.
