We stayed in Morro Praia Hotel for 3 days. The hotel location is excellent with wonderful views.
Unfortunately the rooms are very, very small, to a point that one had to wait outside whilst the other were getting changed. The bed was placed against one wall and the gap on the other side between the bed and the wall was approximately 40cm. The bed linen was too small and didn’t fit to the bed, so we woken up in the bare mattress which isn’t pleasant or hygienic...
The safe was very old, hard to reach and tricky to open. Considering that you sign a form that exempt the hotel owners of any responsibility for any items missing, this should work properly.
Breakfast was OK, a kind of hit and miss. The kitchen isn’t immediately close to the breakfast area (although just a few steps), and the service (to refill the table) is really slow if it is raining.
The owners were attentive and very helpful.

I've stayed in this hotel (pousada) in September 2010. Room was very very tiny. The air conditioner was very noisy. It was September time, so it wasn't very hot, but there's no ventilation in the room so we had to use the AC. I think for the same price you might be able to find something better. Location is good (3rd beach).

We traveled to Morro De Sao Paulo in Feb 2009 and foolishly relied on lonely Planet to provide a recommendation for a place to stay. We were looking for a mid range Hotel/Pousada that was clean and comfortable.

Well Morro Praia may come in at a mid range price (R$140 and R$180 Beach view) and the website photo's look deceptively OK. But once you arrive and see the rooms you realize how small they are. You practically have to take turns standing up if 2 people are going to share a room. The rooms are way too small for comfort. We searched for a power point and the only one we could find in the bathroom was blocked off so we couldn't plug anything into it. Now as for the bed If you have not seen a Chiropractor before you will be advised to find a good one because you will need one after a night in their beds. The mattress felt 30 years old was concave akin to sleeping in a hammock. If you have ever tired 2 people in a 1 person hammock that may give you an idea. The WORST NIGHTS SLEEP EVER!!!!
The breakfast was average and very small compared to a standard brazilian brakfast. Don't expect to eat much and you won't be disapointed.

When we politely brought the above points up with the Manager her English speaking friend/boyfriend continually mumbled in the background and when confronted to speak he did so rudely with his broken Portuguese telling us to just leave and that we were rude. I think any business that won't listen to it's customers and take on board constructive criticism should die a slow death. I found it amusing that on one hand they would vehemently defend their beds and then admit to never having slept in them. Like a restaurant with bad food that the chefs won't taste.

Finally when the manager dismissed her simple chirping parrot and listened to our grievances she agreed to take them on board. So to finish maybe there is a glimmer of hope that they will try the beds and dig deep to upgrade these. unfortunately the size of the rooms will be much harder to change.

As for value this pousada is extremely overpriced as the next day we moved to another place at least 4 times the size, beachfront with a swimming pool restaurant and TV with massive landscaped gardens for R$200.

A little searching will save you the pain of staying here.
