“A beautiful farmhouse in a charming area”
Reviewed May 20, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

This house is large enough to accommodate eight people very comfortably. The kitchen is updated and perfect for cooking meals at home. We loved the large back yard and different sitting areas outside. It is situated in a nice area with the patisserie and marche within an easy driving or biking distance. Charming towns such as St. Emilion are a drive away and fun to walk around. Wineries are plentiful - make a reservation beforehand since most of them require it. Make sure to go to Guillaume patisserie for pastries and breads. The brioche suisse are fantastic!

“Outstanding place to stay”
Reviewed June 3, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

My wife and I, our 2 adult children and a friend recently stayed in this property for a week.

It was an absolute pleasure to deal with the property owner Sonia both before and during our stay. Her attention to detail including a welcoming bottle of Bordeaux wine for us to enjoy. She was extremely helpful in providing a comprehensive guide on the property and recommendations for sightseeing in the Bordeaux and wider area. Also she answered any queries promptly. We were also most impressed to read of her experience in buying and restoring the property which made our stay that more intimate and rewarding.

The property itself is very large on expansive grounds. It has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and could comfortably sleep 10 people. My wife and I particularly enjoyed our very large and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. The rooms have been carefully and tastefully restored with modern bathrooms and a great farmhouse style kitchen. Also the rooms are adorned with lovely antique and period furniture. Sonia's tasteful contribution extends to the bath towels, soaps and candles throughout the house. The quality of wine glasses is a further example of how much care and thought has gone into to setting up this property for rental. The kitchen and laundry were well stocked with the necessary appliances.

We all looked forward to returning to the house after a day out sightseeing or visiting a morning market to relax and enjoy the quiet and comfortable facilities. This included using the outside gas barbeque area - weather permitting. We also enjoyed long walks on the quiet local roads.

It was with much regret that our week stay ended. It is without doubt one of the most enjoyable properties we have stayed in. Thank you Sonia.

“Absolutely Fantastic Place”
Reviewed November 10, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

If you want the most amazing service from the owners, an incredible house to stay in, and an area full of history and obviously wineries, then this is the house for you! We even reduced our time out visiting places and small villages, so we could all get back there, to eat, laugh, drink and relax! The owners could not do enough to assist us during our week and the house (as the owners told us) just loves a heap of people, laughing, cooking and generally soaking up the amazing area. Highly recommend this house for a relaxing holiday or a base to travel around to see so much of the local area. Easy access to the bigger towns and far enough away from roads, to be a very quiet and relaxing! The neighbour was brilliant, giving us tomatoes and capsicums picked straight from his vines! The bedrooms were so comfortable, we had four couples staying there and we all just loved the place!!!

“Wonderful house!”

My husband and I stayed here in October and invited two other couples. The house is really beautiful, well maintained and tastefully decorated.. You will not be disappointed! It is even prettier than the pictures and has wonderful ambiance!

It is ideal for 2-3 couples or a family. Really nice kitchen and we also enjoyed the outdoor dining area. The upstairs master suite and bathroom are amazing. There is also a large bedroom with an ensuite bathroom downstairs, that is attached to a smaller room with two twin beds. There are two more bedrooms and one other bath (other than the master suite) upstairs but one bedroom does not have a closet (which is why the house is ideal for up to 3 couples but you could have more),

Sonia provided great recommendations for activities, day trips and restaurants which were really helpful.

Note-our Garmin found the house with no trouble but both of the other 2 couples we invited got lost using the rental car GPS. It really is worth buying a Garmin and pre-programming routes to the house, activities and restaurants in advance as much as possible.

We would definitely recommend staying here and we are already trying to plan a return trip!

Management Response

We are so glad you had a wonderful stay.
Nearly every guest has said the house is much nicer than my pictures depict which suggests I am better host than a photographer.
I agree we should add an armoire for the bedroom with the blue corbiere bed. I have had my eye on a hand carved walnut armoire made in the last century that I intend to buy this Christmas & put into that room for use as a closet.
I am glad you & Dave were enchanted by both the house & the region. Thank you for staying at our holiday home.

We spent 2 weeks this summer and it was one of the best houses we have ever rented. The house is large, really nice and the owner Sonia gave us all kind of tips during our stay. I would definitley recommend to anyone who wants to spend some days in the region

“A small piece of paradise”
Reviewed August 22, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We already had high expectations for Bastide St Pierre prior to our arrival but it far exceeded anything we could have dreamed of. We travelled with our 2 young boys and some Australian friends, with their 2 young daughters, who wanted a rural French holiday. Prior to our arrival in France Sonia provided us with some excellent information on the local area and details specific to the property, including information on the closest supermarket, boulangerie, petrol station etc. fantastically helpful.

Well what can we say about the house?! It is a utopian paradise in an already beautiful part of France. Lovingly renovated it incorporates some incredibly tasteful decor with utilitarian necessities making it a real home away from home. The bedrooms are all very spacious and incredibly comfortable with the master bedroom adjoined by an en suite bathroom large enough to have a party in! The kitchen area is simply stunning and we adored cooking large family meals whilst sampling the spoils from our daily trips to the vineyards and surrounding villages of St Emilion. Fully equipped with everything you need, and more, for a comfortable self catering holiday we were all very impressed by the quality of the renovation.

The rear part of the house is quite frankly huge! A massive expanse of lawn area where the children ran and ran and ran and ran and occasionally played the odd game of croquet! The outdoor patio is wonderful and the BBQ area, set a little away from the main house, is set in a tumbledown, but safe, old barn and is a stunning area to eat, particularly at dusk.

The surrounding area is fantastic and the house is ideally situated for the delights of the bustling city of Bordeaux, a one hour drive, the stunning St Emilion, 15 mins drive, and Libourne, 20 mins drive. If you want to venture further afield the autoroute is close by too. Whatever day trip you take, Bastide St Pierre is just the perfect property to return to. You instantly feel at ease whilst you are there and we couldn't fail to recommend this property to anyone. The owners are wonderful and renovated a stunning property into something that is just perfect. Not only that, throughout our stay they were incredibly helpful and provided continued support, even furnishing us with some very interesting history of the bastide.

If we could give this property 6* we would. Simply outstanding.
