Description: It's been a full circle for Silas and Angela, who in 2007, along with their children, Marley and Levi (Lumeah was born in 2008), packed up their life in Victoria and headed to Denmark where Silas had been offered the position as head chef at Forest Hill Vineyard. With his passion for locally sourced produce combined with his love of spices, Silas' dishes became a big hit. Fast track to 2010 and Pepper & Salt Restaurant was born! Silas' creativity with herbs and spices produced an outstanding menu that showcased his Fijian-Indian heritage, and with Angela and the team's friendly and attentive service, Pepper & Salt Restaurant became a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. In 2013, Silas and Angela welcomed the opportunity to relocate their restaurant from Rockcliffe Winery to Forest Hill Vineyard where they continue to develop creative dishes paired with excellent service.

Terribly disappointed as checked website daily for opening times. Arrived Thursday 22 nd March at 2.30 for a late lunch as we were going back Friday. Sign on road says open. Arrive to be greeted with, sorry, closed to the public as end of taste of south function. Why on earth not advertise this on website and take sign off road.

Would have loved to try the amazing looking food

We have a most delicious meal. The entree and deserts were outstanding, and probably the best we have eaten. The main was also lovely, but the desert won out. Our only disappointment was that they forgot to write "Happy birthday" on our desert plates, as they did for others.

So often I am forced to give reviews that are less than satisfactory but today I need to find some words unused for a long while! The service from booking to paying was pleasant and set up an expectation for an excellent experience come.
We enjoyed tasting the wonderful Forest Hill wines before lunch where the very knowledgeable Cellar door manager stepped us through each wine explaining the nuances. Wines were excellent, so far the experience was delightful.
Heading upstairs to the restaurant we were met by bubbly staff who clearly enjoyed being there even though it was a Saturday afternoon. We chose wines to start to match with our first course of a two or three course set menu. I chose the Chardonnay to go with superb local marron. My partner matched the Riesling with the Snapper and Prawn samosas. Both entrees were fabulous.
Mains of fillet of beef matched with the Cab Sav and roasted barramundi again with the Riesling were perfect just as they were. We had ordered sides but could have managed without.
Desert, coffee and liqueur rounded out the best meal we have had in a long time.
Silas and his staff are to be commended on the quality and love they infuse into Pepper and Salt. We would highlight recommend.
