We had a really enjoyable July weekend at Beech Alpen Inn. My husband was needing some time away from the heat and humidity of summer, and the Beech Alpen Inn did not disappoint - highs in the 70s during the day and quite comfortable at night. We didn't even need to use air conditioning (though there was an air conditioner in the room)! Check-in was easy, and we liked our room. It was a large end room with fireplace (which we actually used on a July evening. Wow!). The decor was fine - nothing fancy, but hey - this is a casual mountain inn so we weren't expecting fancy. We had all the
necessities - soap, shampoo, conditioner, even bath gel and coffee maker and decent tv. And we even had a microwave and small refrigerator in the room. It made for a very comfortable room, and the nice big window with mountain view was a real treat. On one night, there was even a wonderful bluegrass band playing out on the back lawn - how great it that?!? We had the continental breakfast one morning (bagels, muffins, danishes, coffee, etc.) and had dinner both nights at the restaurant. Our server was Amanda, and she was just wonderful - personable and friendly! We were delighted to eat out on the patio both nights. The food was quite good . My husband loved the
peppercorn steak so much that he had it both nights. I had chicken marsala one night and pasta florentine the next. Meals were served with nice rolls (that appeared homemade). There also was a good dessert selection, and I especially enjoyed the brownie sundae. The Beech Alpen Inn offered us a great summer getaway, with cooler temps and beautiful mountain views and a nice value in the summer. It's not fancy, but it's not supposed to be. We really enjoyed the Beech Alpen Inn!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with fireplace and mountain view.

We did not stay at the hotel but rent a condo and have patronized the restaurant several times last season and it was excellent, The crab soup was to die for. My wife ordered the 10 dollar cheese quesadilla, and I ordered the prime rib. The quesadilla was soggy and cold, served with warm salsa right out of a jar and a sour cream cup with the top still on it. Taco Bell does better for 99 cents. My prime rib was under cut (not close too 14oz) and cold and undercooked, served with a side of still frozen brocolli. We didn't say anything to our server but after a few questions found out they have a new chef for the season. We will try again next season. Very dissapointing.

My wife and I spent a weekend here to be close to the skiing at Beech Mtn. We did a fair amount of searching and were underwhelmed with the hotel choices in the area. BA looked like the best of the bunch. It's not a bad hotel, just awfully dated, and overpriced for what you get. Crummy furniture, cheap toilet paper, and an awful continental breakfast for near 200/night is just unacceptable to me.

I have never stayed during ski season, but in summer, this place is beyond compare. It is not over luxurious, but its comfortable and is loaded with charm and a peaceful atmosphere. There aren't many places to got to really cool off in a southern heat wave (100+) when even Boone is hot, but this place is cool no matter what. They have a meadow with a great view and a hammock, where one could easily let a good day pass. So come here if you want a real "away from it all" maountain vacation.

We stayed here with our two young kids and another couple with their kids. It was clean. A little to be desired in terms of modern ammenities. My friends room had a TV that pretty old. The young attendant told us incorrectly that kids 7 and under could ski for free at Beech. We got adult discount tickes with no problems but when we got to the ski resort we had to get full price tickets for our kids. That was our only mishap. Just a heads up. DO NOT RENT YOUR SKIS EQUIPT FROM BEECH MTN!!! RENT FROM AN INDEPENDENT!!! AND DO NOT EAT AT THE FAMILY PANCAKE INN. RUDE AND SLOW IN EVERY WAY!!!All in all I would stay here again just based on it's proximity to ski Beech Mountain.
