“Awesome!!”
Reviewed 3 January 2010

We stayed here for one night on a spur of the moment trip to Boone to take my step-daughters who were visiting from FL to see some snow. While we paid a little more than I would like given that it was not a planned trip, I don't feel bad at all about the money we spent. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom is huge for a hotel, and the beds are awesome!!! The breakfast in the morning has a good selection of foods, and everyone left with a full stomach.

My only complaint would be about the breakfast area. It is right off the lobby, so every time someone came in or out the front door, the breakfast area got a blast of 5 degree weather! We did not find the "over-flow" breakfast room down the hall till after we ate. If we had known about it we would have headed there to avoid the cold drafts. But, that is only a problem when the weather is very cold, and it certainly won't deter me from going back! As a matter of fact, we are already planning a return trip, and we will be staying at this hotel!!

The main reason anyone should stay at this Holiday Inn Express is to cross the street to eat at The Peddler restaurant! The hotel is ok although I had a couple of issues with the cleanliness of the bathroom and there is only an outside pool (so closed now, of course) and the fitness room was closed for renovation. So much for f itness. Breakfast was fine and room furnishings were acceptable.

Very clean. Comfy beds. Friendly staff. Pretty good breakfast.

We've stayed here 4 years in a row now and have been happy with every visit. We'll be back next year.

This is an attractive ,nice hotel. We found it to be very up to date., well kept and it had comfortable beds The only criticism Iis that the facuets they used were very low cost and basic paired with beautiful marble countertops in the huge bathroom and the additional sink in the bedroom area. They worked well but with additional $ they could have had a wow factor.
All of the employees we encountered were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was varied and very adequate with nice surroundings in the dining area. Only one elevator was functioning during check out time but they said they were " working on getting it fixed".It was not a huge inconvenience for most.
If you are trying to arrive or depart during heavy traffic times, use the light at the Lowe's store as the parking lots adjoin.

I stayed here with my sister for one night earlier this week. We paid $79 for the night + tax after I joined Priority Club, the rewards program of Holiday Inn. Very good value for this hotel. I have no complaints whatsoever except for the caulking around the bathtub. It was discolored (turned brown) and peeling/cracking. Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in 401, a room at the end of the hall with 2 queen beds. The AC/heating unit is located under the window, rather than a thermostat on the wall, so that can be rather noisy. There is a second sink outside the bathroom, with a coffeemaker, coffee, tea, cups, etc. That is very convenient if you have several people trying to get ready at once. Sinks have granite countertops. There is no vent fan in bathroom. TV is not flat screen if that is important to you. There were 2 comfortable chairs in the room, along with a desk and chair. We did not eat the free breakfast, so I cannot comment on that, but I did notice the posted sanitation score of 92. The pool is quite small, but clean, and there were plenty of lounge chairs. It was not heated. It was well-screened from the surrounding parking lot and roadways by shrubbery. My sister and I arrived at 10:30 am and checked in with no problem. Staff welcomed us and didn't act like it was any big deal at all. They also helped us find a restaurant we were looking for and gave us a map. I noticed there was a laundry room with a coin-operated washer and dryer for guests to use, and nearby there is an exercise room with 2 treadmills and an elyptical (I think) machine. Free USA Today delivered to our room in morning. For what we paid, this was well worth the price.

We had a wondeful experience. This was our first time staying in Boone for a hiking trip and were trying to decide among other hotel choices. We're glad that we selected HIE. The hotel was very clean, the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable and the choice of soft or firm pillows was a nice touch. The breakfast buffet the next morning had both cold and hot options, and was a lot better than other hotel offerings.

My wife and I just returned from a weekend get away to Boone. We visit the Boone area a couple of times a year, but have never stayed at the HI Express until this trip.

I had always thought the Boone HI Express looked like a nice place to stay, and the location was good; close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock.

We stayed in a King Room with a balcony. Don't pay the extra for a balcony room. There are no chairs to sit in on the balcony, and there is NO view, unless you consider a drainage ditch or the Lowe's parking lot a view.

The room was nice, clean and quite.. The bathroom was huge, but our shower didn't work like it was suppose to. The thingy that cuts the shower head on was broken and only dirverted about 1/3 of the water to the shower head. Because of that, the shower head water pressure was so low that you could hardly rinse the soap off of your body.

The "young adults" working the front desk left a lot to be desired. I assume they were college students who haven't had that class on "customer service" yet. It was almost like we were bothering them when we arrived to check in.

The breakfast bar was very nice. There were a lot of different items to choose from, all of which were hot, and tasted pretty decent.

My biggest complaint was the maid service. At 8:55 on Sunday morning they were knocking on our door, wanting to clean our room. Check out time is 11:00, so please give the customer ample time to eat, shower and pack.

I would stay there again.
