My husband and I booked Spotted Rock for a 4-night 10-year anniversary get-away and weren't disappointed. The cabin was exactly as Jonathan described with all amenities and services working perfectly. There was plenty of wood for the wood stove, the hot tub was lovely, views breathtaking, and the cabin was spotlessly clean. We also appreciated all the helpful tips and recommendations in Jonathan's guide and enjoyed walking around the little town of nearby Brevard (super charming!). We would have like to have done more hiking, but the weather was COLD (we're from Key West - thin blood - lol!!), so we headed into Asheville a couple of days to visit some breweries. LOVED Asheville ... and the breweries! Overall, we'd highly recommend little Spotted Rock Cabin and would happily visit again.
Words CANNOT describe how amazing Spotted Rock Cabin was.
From the moment the cabin came into view amongst the trees to when we opened the door and stepped into a dream-like space.
If you are looking to be away from the world and experience life in the mountains with beautiful views and starry filled night skies then Spotted Rock Cabin is the PLACE!!
I can’t wait to come here again, again and again.
It is a tucked away gem that was cozy and picturesque. Our family had a wonderful time and we look forward to staying again.
The cabin was a great place to stay!! Conveniently located near all the awesome bike trails!! The loft bedroom has a big window overlooking a beautiful view of the mountain. Very private location. We will be back.
The Spotted Rock Cabin is definitely a beautiful escape from reality. Up in the mountains, there was nothing more serene than sitting on the poarch listening to what nature has to offer. There were plenty of places to hike and walk around the property, we even ran into some beautiful Blue Ghost fireflies when we were there. And if hikings not your thing, there was super fast wifi to keep you entertained. I definitely plan to return.
My husband and two of our chilldren (teenager, young adult) spent Labor Day weekend at Spotted Rock Cabin and fully enjoyed ourselves. It provided the peace and quiet we were so desparately looking for.
The cabin is very comfortable, and complete with everything you will need. It has a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, internet and tv. It even has a washer and dryer in the basement.
The area is gorgeous with breathtaking views all around. We visited several of the waterfalls in the area, including those in Dupont State Forest. We also visited Brevard and the great restaurants there, Square Root being our favorite.
I highly recommend the Spotted Rock Cabin if you are looking for some peace and quiet while being close to some outstanding waterfalls and great rastaurants. It's best suited to smaller families, but was very comfortable for the four in our family.

Myself and two other buddies of mine shared this cabin for a weekend as a good base camp for some hiking and waterfall(s) sighting we planned to do in the area. Jonathan, the owner, was very professional and helpful right from the start. The cabin was just like his pictures suggested. Nothing to fancy but everything you need to get away for awhile. There are only two beds, but there was a cot that Jonathan had stored in the basement below that worked out well. The Roku/Wi-Fi and flat screen worked perfectly. Jonathan suggested we try the restaurant at the bottom of the mountain for dinner and they didn't disappoint (Very good food and entertainment). It wasn't too cold (We were there the weekend of March 13th), but it was cool and rainy so the wood fireplace came in handy and was just plain cool to lite up! Jonathan provided plenty of split wood for us! The people of Roslyn, NC and nearby Brevard couldn't of been any nicer to us. It was a great trip! This cabin is perfect for two couples or like us, three separate individuals who won't mind flipping coins to see who gets the cot. I probably wouldn't recommend this cabin for large families or groups unless Jonathan added a pullout couch downstairs instead of those two comfy leather chairs he has there now. ;) BTW, Jonathan sends detailed directions to get to the cabin and suggests to not rely on your GPS the last 2 or 3 miles. This is critical advise you need to follow! Your GPS will lie to you (like mine did)! Just follow his directions and any car or vehicle can make it there just fine. I don't generally write reviews, but this cabin is a slam dunk if you are looking for peace and quiet at a great value! As long as Jonathan still owns and rents this cabin out, I will be a repeat customer!
