Nantahala River Lodge
Reviewed 21 June 2015

The Nantahala River Lodge is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. We stayed here in May and enjoyed fishing, relaxing in the comfy chairs by the river, and cooking in the gorgeous kitchen. The owners have thought of everything! We can't wait to go back!

Oh my goodness, this place is magnificent! My husband and I stayed for three nights in September of this year (2014). We were in awe of how beautiful this cabin and the grounds are.
Huge deck overlooking the river, the property is fenced and secure. We had a table on the deck, BBQ, Picnic table, lounge chairs by the river, a swing (which I loved) and a firepit. Every detail is perfect, the cabin was spotless, comfortable and private. The owners were wonderful. We fell in love with the entire area, especially the Nantahala Outdoor Center, which is only about 5-10 minutes away, where went ate several times (awesome food!), and went white water rafting. We are hoping to return soon with more family members. we highly recommend this cabin. What a wonderful memory!

When I stayed here it was such a warm and friendly place. you are well looked after by this crew and they ensure that you are safe and having a great time. hey are second to none with their training. Situated right in the heart of the Smoky mountains and the wild life is fantastic. However the crickets in the evening can take a little getting used to. Driving is easy and the roads wind through the mountains with some stunning views. plenty to do and plenty of rivers to paddle in the area.

The Nantahala River Lodge is the absolutely perfect mountain retreat! My family travels extensively all over the world staying in various styles of accommodations, from private homes and cabins, tents, ranches and every luxury brand hotel out there. Our best experiences are always the ones in which the accommodation fits the surroundings and atmosphere of the given location. Of course style, comfort, condition and value for price paid also matter as well. The Nantahala River Lodge exceeded our expectations for a mountain home, earning the highest marks on all of the above criteria I mentioned. It was so refreshing to stay in a home that was perfectly maintained in every way and had a story behind it with a sense of history. Of course the Nantahala River in the front yard, less than 50 feet from the house was the icing on the cake.
If your are a fly fisherman there could not be a more perfect mountain home for you to rent on the east coast than this one. Not a detail was missed to make it an easy, comfortable, fishing expedition, place inside and out to hang your waders store your boots. The best thing of all of course is there are plenty of fish to catch. My son caught a 24 inch plus 4lb plus brown right in front of the lodge. We will be going back again and again. I almost didn't want to post this review so as to keep this place a secret, but I think the secret is out.

We have been enjoying this spectacular, private, river retreat since we discovered it several years ago while fishing just steps away on the Nantahala River. This spacious lodge home is expertly crafted with beautiful wood and stone throughout. Even the shower walls and floors are covered with natural stone. With some personal pieces of family history, it is obvious that great care that was taken in furnishing and decorating the lodge. The modern kitchen is a cook's delight as it is well equipped with most anything you need. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. If you open the window just a bit, you can hear the sounds of the river.
We enjoy grilling and dining on the large, upper-level deck, and also at the campfire area.
It is nice to have the washer and dryer, especially after a day of fishing, boating, hiking, rafting, or zip lining-all close by. We have always arrived to find the lodge and the premises clean and beautifully maintained. Access in and out is simple, and the owners are available to contact.
Everyone will enjoy the books, games, and puzzles provided for those "stay in by the fire times."
The Nantahala River Lodge is one of a kind!

We stayed at this lodge for our first trip to the Smokies. The lodge is very nice and has everything thought of down to the last detail. The biggest appeal is the creek within a few feet of the lodge itself. It is very well taken care of and the woodwork is gorgeous. If I have any negatives it would be that you have to clean the fireplace if you use it, take out the trash and clean the countertops, stove, etc. Even though my husband and I are very clean and do not make a mess, I feel when you pay $350.00 per night that should be included. I was actually afraid to mess anything up and I have a fireplace at home I can clean. Other than wash the sheets/towels, the housekeeper has very little to do. Also there is a bit of road noise from traffic going by at night being close to the road.

This mountain retreat has it all. The location has beautiful woods, trails and the stream which makes its prescence known by its never ending streaming over rocks. Everything is there, from chairs, grills, and even a site for a campfire. The lodge is breathtaking, clean with a modern kitchen, washer & dryer, and stone covered baths. The workmanship is outstanding with wood and stone thruout. A beautiful deck overlooks the grounds. It is a short ride to town and other sites, but you find it hard to leave. They have all the supplies you need. All you need to bring are your groceries and fishing gear.
