Absolutely gorgeous gardens. Well laid out and great signage. Well maintained. Plan to return when I’m back in the area. Was visiting my daughter who lives in the area. An awesome experience!

A great place to visit; to see plants, artwork and/or take to the trail(s).
Inside the walls are lined with quilted renditions of the 'flower of the year.'
Outside a wonderful array of flowers, plants and art work.
Great place to spend some free time and its free.

Chapel Hill’s botanical garden is an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the crowded college town. It is easy accessible from I40 and can get crowded on weekends.

This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The paths are perfect for wandering around. I loved how every plant was clearly labeled and they were separated into groups based on similar environments or traits. I especially appreciated the herb garden where the various historical uses for these plants were explained. This is a well maintained garden that I enjoy bringing out-of-town guests to during warmer months.

As we moseyed through the gardens, we read and observed about the unique flora that abounds in North Carolina and throughout the eastern seaboard. The well-maintained walking paths were easily maneuvered and we even did a short trail outside the main garden paths. Well worth a visit.....and it’s totally free of charge. The visitor center and gift shop are worth a visit also.
