“Great choice!”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

My family recently stayed here for a weekend competition at the Knight Theatre. The hotel by far exceeded our expectations. The complimentary shuttle was an unexpected service that we took advantage of as well as did many of the hotel guests. I was very disappointed to see that many of these guests didn't tip the shuttle driver. The added convenience of this shuttle and the courtesy of the driver made our weekend experience very pleasant on the two rainy days we were that. The complimentary breakfast was good and plentiful. We will definitely return to this hotel!

Stayed here for approx. 2weeks. Staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast delicious & plentiful. Within walking distance of uptown and literally next door to Bank of America Stadium (home to Carolina Panthers football team).

I just spent 5 days at this property. It's well located in terms of access to Levine arts complex and the Stadium, but is not on the "right" side of town for socializing...it's an isolated property. Parking's very easy and trouble-free (in/out privileges all day). Front desk's always helpful; b'fast and evening bar staff show their genuine friendliness at every opportunity. Well-stocked sundries/canteen. Rooms are clean and comfortable. So, what are the issues? The hotel ended their relationship with a nearby "real" gym...that's annoying: Their own gym is inadequate for all but those with minimal phys ed requirements and their one piece of weight equipment is showing significant wear. I'm starting to see service issues in terms of room prep: Kitchen supplies are missing; requests for towels go unanswered; the bathrooms are starting to look worn. Newer TVs (with a great selection of cable channels including HBO and Scifi) offer some compensation. Decent (and free) internet service.

Room Tip: Go for the no-view rooms high up on the back if you want quiet. Yes; you'll lose the beautiful...

I stayed at this hotel over a weekend for my brother's wedding....and several months later for a funeral in the Charlotte area. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff was courteous and helpful. The location is perfect for downtown events. (The only caveat to this statement is that it is very difficult to get to on a Panthers home-game Sunday because of the proximity of the stadium and the related traffic.) Because we had so many members of the extended family in town for the wedding, we took great advantage of the breakfast room/lobby - sitting around eating and chatting in front of a roaring fire. The staff was very helpful in distributing a "goody bag" to each wedding guest staying at the hotel. A parking garage is conveniently attached to the hotel and I don't remember having to pay for it over the weekend.

We have been staying at this hotel for about 5 years now. Each year we go to Charlotte for a long weekend & to go to a Panthers game. This hotel is in the perfect location-it is right across from the stadium and their is a free shuttle to local restaunts. Their free breakfast is above average for free breakfsts. The hotel staff is always very friendly & nice. We look forward to our stay with you next year!

Enjoyed a great stay at the Residence Inn Charlotte Uptown. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful regarding parking and directions to local places. The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, and the shower water pressure was very strong with adequate hot water. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful, with a lot of variety. We arrived during a football game, which made getting to the hotel a challenge since the streets leading to the hotel were blocked off and there was a lot of action around the stadium (crowds, music, etc.). Overall a great stay and I highly recommend to others.

It was my first business trip to the Charlotte area and my stay at the Residence Inn (Uptown) was fantastic. Make sure when you book you get the one on South Mint Street, there are two in the area, but this one was great. Here is the breakdown:

Front Desk - The friendlist staff I have ever encountered in travel. They were so nice, very helpful and had a bunch of different activities they would tell you about. Such as breakfast and other things. Due to my crazy schedule I was not able to take advantage of those things but others did and they seemed to enjoy them. While on the go, there would sometimes be some punch as a "passing through" refreshment. Some days there were fresh baked cookies. It was a very "at home" feel by the front desk. They would even set up the courtesy van for you to take you into the city.

Room - I stayed in the Pentouse Suite which was excellent. You walk in and have a full kitchen on the left, a living room with coffee table and TV as you walked forward. Then there was a dining room table with chairs (quite elegant) and a few "bar chairs". To the right was a completely separate bedroom and attached to a HUGE bathroom with two sinks, a huge whirlpool bathtub, a nice shower and so much room it was relaxing. The A/C worked great, which is important for a June day in Charlotte. If I wanted to nitpick two things: One, there was no workdesk. I had to connect to the internet and work by sitting in the "breakfast bar" chairs. Two, the sofa in the living room did not face the TV. The TV was to the right and you could not move the TV or funiture to get the sofa to be in front of the TV.

Housekeeping - Everything was so clean and I always had towels replenished. They would even wash any dishes in the sink that I used. Housekeeping did a great job and I could not find any dirt, grime, mildew, or mold anywhere.

Bed - The bed was very comfortable and I was able to get a great night's sleep. The pillows were soft so I had to stack two of them together to sleep on (as I have to do with all hotels since I usually sleep on a very hard pillow that does not sink). The bed was so comfortable that the alarm seemed to ring sooner and sooner each day.

Location - The location of the hotel is great. They provide free transportation to you and they are blocks away from the Epicenter. If it wasn't so hot, I might have walked. It would be a good walk, which may not be bad in the fall or a mild winter night. There was some construction going on in the street in front of the hotel which was quite annoying because to get out and get back you had to take detours, which my GPS did not like. That should be over now but it was annoying at the time. Parking is in the parking garage and can sometimes be a long walk back to the hotel. The first few levels are strictly for hotel guests, but walking down ramps, dodging cars, and getting to the door can be a project sometimes. Parking added to the bill and handing the guy the ticket, room number, and parking pass number each day was annoying. They should have one "pass" so when the guy sees it he knows to let you through.

Room Tip: Get a suite. They are very spacious.
