Unless you're gambling, the main reason to be in Cherokee is the native Indian culture, and this motel is ideally situated.
As a bonus it sits on the river, and has balconies. And is walking distance to the tourism, and importantly a breakfast mom and pop shop.
We had a misunderstanding on our booking - probably our fault, but they were able to offer us a solution, so that helped too.

If we were to stay in Cherokee again I can't think of any reason why we wouldn't make a booking here. the 3 star rating reflects the amenities, not the service, nor quality

Stayed for the night while attending the motorcycle rally in Cherokee. After reading the reviews decided to give it a try. Was very happy the room was very comfortable and clean. All rooms have balconies overlooking the river. Room had tv fridge hair dryer but no microwave but overall very nice would definitely recommend

Can't believe we paid that much for what we got. Toilet was not bolted to the floor, room smelled terrible, spiders in the tub and all this for $175 a night, what a joke. Will definitely not stay there again.

Where to begin? This was one of my most pleasant hotel stays anywhere. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The view off the deck is nothing short of incredible. It overlooks the coldest water I've ever taken a dip in. The location is prime as well. There are several places to eat and shop with a short walk. The parkway is just about a mile drive up the road as well. Great place. I highly recommend and I will be returning again one day.

We will be back. The room was very clean, beds were comfortable and the staff was friendly. Walking distance to a lot of attractions & the balcony overlooking the river was great. Wish it were less expensive but we would certainly stay there again.

Excellent stay beautiful surroundings and wonderful people to deal with. The rooms were spotless and anyting we needed we got or told the best places to get it. Can guarantee we'll be back and it will be the River's Edge for sure. We stayed 2 days but on my return it'll be longer for a wonderful time in the mountains. They're only getting a 5 cause there ain't no 6!!!!

This place is owned or run in conjunction with Econo Lodge. It is right on the Oconaluftee River and all of the rooms have balconies. It appeared recently updated and the room was nice and beds comfortable. That is about it. We checked in through a group reservation and were not told that they shut down their lobby by 9 p.m. They told a member of my group when they checked in and gave them the wifi password and said to get your ice before they close. ...you will need their wifi because there is no cell service. None. I got thirsty before bed and went for some ice. Ice machine was locked up in the lobby. The info book in the room said ice and vending were on the first floor. So off I go down the steep, uneven metal stairs. Following the directions from the sign they put on their door...in my pj's...I drove the 2 miles with my ice bucket and got some from the Econo Lodge. Ridiculous. Parking is another issue. Your bumper will be inches from cars passing on a busy highway. Depending on the size of your vehicle you could be standing on the highway while loading and unloading your trunk. While the balconies are nice there is no river access or common area where you could sit with others, just a treacherous path that a few people have slid down. This area is a "duck crossing" area and they use that path and are cute. Overall the front desk needs better communication with their guests and they need to staff the place and fix the uneven stairs. After taxes, this room was right at $100. I would not recommended it there are better options in Cherokee.
