Currituck Lighthouse is one of two lighthouses you can climb on OBX. My girlfriend and I arrived a little before noon and it was packed. The wait was about 45 minutes, but worth it. The history of the lighthouse and the surrounding buildings is interesting and the views from the top stunning. If you're on the OBX, go check it out.

Quick attraction to break from a day at the beach. After climing 214 steps, we were at the top viewing the entire island from Ocean to Sound. The cost was $7 per climber and children 7 and under were free. Not a bad stop during a wonderful vacation.

The Currituck Beach Lighthouse is a great place to visit while in the Outer Banks! You can climb the 214 stairs to the top of the 158 ft tall lighthouse any day of the week weather permitting between 9am and 5pm. You can also go into the gift shop and learn the history of the lighthouse and the graveyard of the Atlantic. A must-see while in the Outer Banks.

I was skeptical about paying to walk all those steps and it was not that easy, but the view at the top was so worth the money and the effort. It was just in the upper 70's maybe 80 degrees the day we did the tour, I wouldn't recommend doing it if it's any hotter as it would be stifiling in there. Great info. included inside to read on the history of the lighthouse. When you're done take the walking trail out to the sound to view crabs, fish and birds, it's free.

Very nice place to stop and visit. We did not climb to the top of this one (we had already climbed Cape Hatteras the day before) but we enjoyed the visit there - best yet, it was free for us!
