How we wish we could have stayed for the four nights we originally planned for but Hurricane Florence had other ideas, we were evacuated after the first night. We had booked this hotel as the highlight of our tour of this part of the USA and were looking forward to a long relaxing stay by the sea, but it was not to be. Before arriving I felt that the rooms were very expensive but once inside I could see that what we got was good value for money. We chose a room in the South Lodge looking over the swimming pool with a 'dune view'. I am so pleased I did not pay the extra for an ocean view because from our room one could still see the ocean and with the door open at night you could hear the waves, so soothing. The room was possibly one of the nicest we have experienced in the USA rivalling our room in Lancaster County PA. The bathroom was large, and a nice touch was the little plastic duck in the soap dish. We could only stay one night but we took full advantage of the deserted beach which stretched from horizon to horizon and later on relaxed in the warm night air by the fire pit. Yes this hotel is a lot of money but in our view well worth it, so much so that we felt robbed in having to leave early despite receiving a refund on the rest of our planned stay. I would have posted this review earlier but Sanderling was number 5 in our trip around seven states.

Room tip: South Lodge rooms with a 'dune view' still give an adequate view of the ocean, well ours did.

First time staying at Sanderling. Loved it! The service was amazing!!! So close to the beach. The staff was so friendly and helpful!! Would recommend this place to everyone! The only thing I wish more of their eateries were open, but it was October, the off season. I would definitely go back there again.

The Sanderling has always been a favorite of ours to stay in for the past 12 years. We have seen all the renovations throughout the years, including the price hikes as well. I was glad to see that Tripadvisor had the Sanderling listed with a mid week discount. As always the service was wonderful. We enjoyed the fire pit at night. We had great weather and good meals at the local restaurants.
My only negative comment is that the bath towels are very rough and the mattress very soft. Maybe they need to use softener and change out the mattresses in the South building.

Room tip: Rooms in the south building are quieter and away from families with little ones. Ocean view is the best, but pricey!

If you only have a long weekend to squeeze in a beach trip, I'd highly recommend the Sanderling. All of the resort's conveniences made it all the more relaxing. We spent our mornings on the beach, afternoons poolside, and ended each day relaxing around the fire pit. We even made it over to the spa for massages. Everything was fantastic! Laurie, Craig, Alex, Morgan and the rest of the staff were attentive and polite. We can't wait to visit again!

When Hurricane Florence ruined our plans to go to Myrtle Beach, we opted to spend our vacation at Sanderling Resort. What a treat!! The hotel was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely superb. We enjoyed almost all of our meals on site because of the convenience and the marvelous presentation. From the moment we arrived with Lamar brining in our luggage, to Craig stopping on the golf cart to see if we needed assistance one evening with our packages, every encounter with the staff was wonderful. The entire team is to be congratulated on making our experience one to remember. We will definitely be going back!

Room tip: The North Inn with a nice view of the ocean over the dune. The rocking chair porch offered a wonderful sunset view over the sound.

We are sorry that Hurricane Florence came through the area and the devastation she caused to other coastal towns. We are glad though we got to meet you. Thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back.
