I’ve been going to King’s, or as my family calls it, “The Ballpark,” as long as I can remember. My earliest recollections include driving into “town” on a Friday night to “eat out,” meaning eat in the car. I have loved this place throughout the years, and I was so sad when they decided to close.
And I was overjoyed when the new owners decided to re-open this landmark.
Over the years the menu has changed. Now you can get okra—and all beef hot dogs. Vegetarian options, too. Gone are the fatback biscuits and greasy slices of homemade pie.
But the hot dogs are still there, and that is what matters. Great hot dogs and great burgers. I kinda miss the crinkle-cut fries, but again, I’m there for the dogs.
It is a good thing when legends are still around.
