We have been patrons of Finelli's since it was on 10th St., in a small building remodeled from what was a dive shop. It was quaint, romantic, and the food was delicious. Fast forward to today. They moved to a larger space, with outdoor seating, but fortunately the food is still as good as ever. I tend to stick with Italian food when eating at an Italian restaurant, so my experiences are based on pastas, etc.
When we visit, we typically bring our daughter (11) who is well-behaved. I would probably not recommend bringing kids here unless they know how to behave in a quiet restaurant. The menu doesn't have a kids section, but usually the wait staff will offer a "kids portion" of one of the entries (like pasta). My daughter and I absolutely love the alfredo sauce.
I do have to say that for an Italian restaurant, and I've been to plenty, this one is by far the most expensive. Chicken Alfredo with linguine? $19.90! Seriously? No doubt, it is delicious, but there's no excuse for pricing standard pasta meals this high. Other Italian entree prices are on-par with typical up-scale Italian restaurants, and portions are usually quite large. Seafood entree prices are quite high.
Final thing to note: I was hesitant to write this review, as I once contacted the owner via e-mail years ago with a few friendly suggestions based on a previous visit…and got my head chopped off with a insulting e-mail response. The owner has a temper, so be advised. After that experience, we boycotted the restaurant several years before returning more recently.
I would recommend this be a special occasion restaurant, solely due to the cost of eating there.
