Truly an exceptional and rare dining experience. There's nothing like this on the Banks! Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Reservations recommended and check the website for the password (though they'll never turn you away without it). We will absolutely be back!!!

Great dining experience that separates itself from the other restaurants in the OBX. Very creative concept that is a great experience from the moment you arrive. Best drink menu I have seen especially if you appreciate a good bourbon or specialty drink. The food was great, I had the oysters appetizer and pot pie and my husband enjoyed the catfish which was perfectly prepared. Will definitely be going back.
The place has a great and unique vibe.

Found this place on trip advisor and open table and wanted to try it for the speakeasy theme. Very good drink menu that is different from the same old same. Darcy was our flapper server and was very good. We had several small plates and salads and the crab cakes. Everything was very good. Try this place if you're tired of the same old beach fare food.

When the Flyng Fish announced its closing, I wondered whether its replacement would become a new favorite. Two visits later, I can say that Grandstaff & Stein Book Sellers is now definitely on my vacation rotation. In two visits, my friends and I sampled much of the food menu (and some of the extensive beverages) and came away very pleased with this OBX extension of a Richmond "speakeasy." The room has been lovingly renovated with a 1920's vibe. The menu is not huge, but still offers wide choices. The serving portions are good, at a good price, and invite sampling both the appetizers and desserts. Special favorites from these first two visits are the duck drummette appetizer, the crab cake and steak entrees, and the key lime panna cotta dessert. But, everything we chose was excellent. There are special discounts every evening (e.g., Wednesdays offer half-price bottles of wine) and a neat loyalty program built around Bingo which we scored after just our two visits, earning a $20 gift card for our future visits.

First off thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed, glowing review. So often people seem to feel the need to only remind you of all the things you're doing wrong.

We strive every day to ensure our guests have a wonderful meal and a marvelous time at our restaurant and it is extremely encouraging for someone to tell us. Thank you again for your kind comments and patronage. We look forward to serving you again on your next vacation!
