We just celebrated our wedding at the Rumbling Bald Resort and it was absolutely wonderful! We had a great experience; from the beginning stages of our wedding planning to the last dance at our reception.
Working with Kathy DiNatali, the wedding coordinator at the resort, was a dream. She was informational, organized, and efficient. She corresponded with us through every step of the planning process, always there to answer any question we may have had.
When we arrived for our wedding weekend, we found the lodging we had reserved, Mountains Highland Lodge, to be breathtakingly beautiful, clean, and decorated immaculately. It was the perfect backdrop for our rehearsal dinner celebration, where guests could meander from the large wrap around porch to the vast living area and kitchen to grab a drink or bite to eat. It was cozy, yet large enouch to easily accommodate a party of 50 guests!
When the day finally arrived, and my wedding planners were racing around in search of our arriving vendors, who were ready for set up, Reggie, the wedding day coordinator, was magnificent. He advised our planners and aided them in setting up our reception to perfection! And when the music began and I was ready to make my walk down the aisle, he lended me some much needed confidence through some quick conversation ;) Thanks Reggie!
Reggie's staff was phenomenal!!! The servers were on top of everthing. Their service, manners, and etiquette made my guests and I feel like we were in the "Great Gatsby" novel. It was stand out service. Our guests raved afterwards about what wonderful service the servers at our reception provided...and it was obvious throughout the whole event.
I can easily say that I would recommend the Rumbling Bald Resort to anyone who is looking for a wedding venue with; breathtaking views of the lake and mountains, a beach and spa for relaxing, unbelievable food and service, knowledgable and efficient wedding coordinators, and perfection for your perfect day!

What a wonderful time we had at the Rumbling Bald Resort in beautiful Lake Lure, NC. We came up for the Hickory Nutt Gorge Olympiad and could not have asked for better service, better accomadations, or better entertainment.

From when we first arrived, the resorts staff was well organized, helped us find our way to our cabin (more on that in a moment), and even had some passes for us to there wonderful lazy river swimming pool.

We stayed at the KCLO CABIN. The driveway is a bit challenging but everything else was perfect. Beautiful log cabin.....super clean......a great loft for the kids to hang out in. We had seven of us staying there and there was plenty of room. We added another 10 (total of 17) for a cookout and the cabin did not seem crowded at all.

We had a very enjoyable time and would recommend this cabin and resort to anyone traveling that way.

We just returned from a 5 day stay at Rumbling Bald Resort. It was beautiful, clean, fully furnished with everything we needed and we even had a nightly visitor of a doe under our balcony. The kids loved that!!! We had several family members on the trip with us and they stayed at Fairfield Mountains - which was very nice too - but OUR unit was incredible!!!! They all said they were coming for dinner with the people in the " mansion on the hill" !!!!!! LOVED IT!!!!!!

Unfortunately, I cannot reccommend the Rumbling Bald Resort. We reserved a condominum for a long weekend and arrived in the evening. Upon entering the condominium that we were supposed to stay in, we were greeted by a unit that had never been cleaned since the last tenant (towels scattered throughout and dirty bed linens). According to the management, a new computer system was the reason for all of the problems. After working with the security guards and night manager, we were able to find another unit for the evening.

The following morning, we walked down to the local shop and were followed back to our condominum unit by two men in a pick up truck who proceeded to watch which unit we entered and then drive away. Needless to say, this was the last straw. Not only did we not originally receive a clean unit but we now were questioning our safety. The one bright spot of the visit was the fact that we needed to find alternative accommodations. We were thrilled to find a bed and breakfast in Asheville with a guset cottage (The Cedar Crest Inn). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cedar Crest Inn in Asheville and would reccommend it to anyone. Overall, the Rumbling Bald Resort was a thorough disappointment and I would reccommend that anyone should reconsider their options before staying there.

Unfortunately, the problem this guest experienced in March was a result of a resort-wide computer software change. Anyone who has endured a software conversion will understand the challenges it poses, and this was the week of the changeover. The new software listed every room as "Ready" regardless of it's status. It took a few problems like this one to make us aware of the problem, and we acted to fix that problem immediately. We regret the inconveinence this caused.

We loved our stay at Rumblling Bald. We have three young children and found plenty to do in a weeks worth of time between golf, the pool, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. We are coming back again this year. You can't beat the price and the scenary is absolutely beautiful. We spent a lot of time at the pool with the kids and they loved it. The kids loved the gem mining in Chimney Rock and we took a day trip to Asheville to visit the Biltmore...definitely two thumbs up! The town of Hendersonville is also very charming with great restaurants and antiquing.

This is my second trip to Lake Lure and my wife's first. We shared a cabin with 4 other people (KLCO's Cabin) about 5 mins from the Rumbling Bald security gate. We did some sightseeing, Chimney Rock, and went to a wedding. Overall a great stay. Check-in was simple and our cabin was super-clean. There's a huge, comfortable living room with gas fireplace, Dish-Network with easy-to-operate DVR and nice kitchen area. The staff was courteous and easy to talk to. We spent one afternoon at the wellness center and after a workout enjoyed the steamroom and sauna. The staff even lent us towells without charging us.

Now the bad part: The driveway to KLCO's cabin is TERRIBLE! You have to navigate this long and steep driveway (barely wide enough for our small Volkswagen Jetta) and you have to spend a great deal of time backing in and out to get your car turned around to get back out because you DON'T want to have to back your car out of this place. One bad move and you're going to fall off the left bank of this very high and steep driveway with no guard rail. In the rain it's so steep our car slipped 3 times before we made it. I'd stay at the resort again only if we chose a different cabin.

Use this review to be prepared. If you stay at Klco Cabin, there is a paved but narrow, hilly driveway leading through the woods to get to the house. If you are comfortabe with handling a vehicle in tight turn-arounds, it's part of the mountain experience. It you have a very large vehicle or are not comfortable with a narrow, hilly driveway this may not be the best choice, even though the home is beautiful.

What a beautiful area! A little hard to get to (the directions on the web site were perfect) but once you get here...Holy Cow! Our home was clean and tidy. Yes, there were a few cobwebs in the corner but that was o.k., no big deal. After all, you're in the montains of western N.C...lots of bugs here. The house itself was perfect. Just the right size..great screened in porch..right on Bald mountain Lake and a short ride to all the attractions of the resort. Staff was freindly and helpful. we have 2 children with Fragile-X Autism and they didn't want to go home. The fact that they liked it made it very special. Also, the pool was very clean. Not close to stores so bring things with you if you know you'll need them
