Burke Arts Council is very active in the community, displaying a wide variety of crafts, which I believe are mostly local. Some items are for sale. A great place for gifts for yourself or others. They also offer a real variety of art-related classes at reasonable prices.

My visiting friend wanted to see art in Morganton so we visited several. The Jailhouse Gallery has changing exhibits as well as wonderful art work in various mediums for purchase. We both found plenty to buy after viewing the exhibits.

When I visited the art gallery they were displaying photography collection. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the stories behind the photos and the photographers that took the pictures.

The gallery is small but in a historic building that used to be the city "jail". The exterior of the building has been recently updated and has an "artsy" look from the street scape. Exhibits are changed frequently and provide different forms and types of art so there is something for everyone at some point during the year. Hours are convenient for visitors and there are some extended hours during city events
