Spent the weekend with my children and grandchildren (ages 6 and 7), and Dancing Bears felt like the only cabin on the mountain. It's one of the first properties entering a private, gated community, so didn't have to drive up winding roads to get an amazing view. (Bride of nearly 45 years appreciated that.) My kids (in their late 30s) appreciated the paved driveway!
Woke up to watch the sun rise over the mountains in the deck. Could hear the birds chirping and leaves ruffling with activity. My kids really liked that the trees weren't "on top" of the cabin. There's a nice clearing all around the property where our grandkids ran.
Grandkids also loved stacking stones. They got a kick out of the bunk beds too. At night, we made s'mores in the firepit and watched a night sky FULL of stars. Milky Way seemed to go on forever. Cabin is rustic, but modern. We had a DVD player and hundreds of TV channels to choose from, but we actually just sat around a huge table playing cards and some of the board games we found at the cabin. Didn't even access Wi-Fi too much.
During the day, we hiked in Montreat and ate at Fresh Wood Fired Pizza and Pasta (DELICIOUS) in Black Mountain. Both are just a short drive from the cabin. There's also a short waterfall hike minutes away (on the same mountain), and a longer waterfall hike just 15 minutes away at Catawba Falls. Overall had an amazing time! We'll definitely be back to Dancing Bears! Grandkids already are bugging me about it!
If you need a place to unwind, recharge, enjoy nature's beauty and have a wonderful time, can't go wrong with Dancing Bears.
