This building is actually the second North Carolina Capitol building in Raleigh. The first was heavily damaged by fire and torn down. You can visit the chambers used by the House & Senate until they moved to the new Legislative building a few blocks north on Jones St. There is a lot of history to see in this building. Tours are self guided unless you make advance arrangements to visit it as part of a group. There are quite a few statues on the grounds surrounding the Capitol so walk around and talk a closer look at them.
