Days Inn Raleigh Downtown
Ranked #69 of 86 Hotels in Raleigh
Reviewed 4 December 2010

We were in Raleigh for a few days visiting family and doing a bit of sightseeing, so we just needed a reasonably priced base for our activities. The Days Inn Raleigh Downtown was exactly what we needed - central location, ample car parking, good price.

The room had everything we wanted: free Wi-fi, TV, coffee machine, microwave (although we didn't use it, it might have been handy!), fridge, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, alarm clock. There's also a laundry room for those staying longer, I think you buy detergent at the front desk then it's $1.25 for a wash and $1.25 for a dry.

The location was good as we found it easy to drive to and park at, and also there's a lot of shops, restaurants, attractions within walking distance. The staff were all very pleasant.

We would go again in the future!

We were staying in Raleigh without a car and needed a place to stay downtown, but we couldn't spend too much. The Days Inn fit the bill. It was clean, relatively quiet, and so much cheaper than every other hotel in the downtown area. It's a bit of a walk to the main drag compared to the more expensive hotels, but well worth it. The front desk was always helpful in giving recommendations and directions: more so than any other days inn we've ever stayed at! The location and friendly staff made an average chain hotel a really great experience.

The service was terrible, a housekeeper walked in with a key at 4:45 pm on our check in date, we had no coffee pot, we asked for one and no one ever brought one, our clock was broken, and we went out our first morning at around 7:30 am and returned at 2:30 pm to a room that had not been touched and the cleaning staff vaccummed for 2 hours ruining any chance of a nap. We had an early day on our check out date and in that we had no clock I called for a wake up call that did not come so I was late for my event. We asked if we could print one document and it was and I quote "two much trouble" for one black and white page. And before we checked out again the housekeeping team just barged right in on us without knocking. Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

We stayed here for three nights during a 6-state Road Trip and found it perfectly adequate for our needs. The rooms were standard Days Inn/Hampton Inn/Fairfield Inn quality, functional and comfortable. Breakfast was very disappointing although they did have a nice seating area outside. The hotel is in a good location, easy walking distance to the main sights and restaurants. I would stay here again if I returned to Raleigh.

We were hesitant to stay at this hotel due to the terrible reviews on this site about bad smells in particular. Also it was a bit confusing as there are 2 Days Inn hotels in Raleigh and some of the reviews refer to the one that is further out of town and some did not mention which hotel they were talking about so it was often hard to know for sure which hotel the review referred to. We stayed at the downtown Days Inn and had a really good experience. We had a very warm welcome on our arrival. The room was very clean and the bathroom had been updated with modern fittings. The beds were comfy and we had good air conditioning. We did notice a smell of air freshener in the corridor but there was no underlying bad smell at all - it just smelled fresh. The room did not smell at all. Breakfast was adequate and what we expected from a Days Inn although it would have been nice to have a choice of white bread as well as brown. The manager kindly allowed us to check out an hour later at no extra charge as we were waiting to catch a Greyhound bus in the afternoon. He also allowed us to sit in the restaurant after check out and make use of the wireless internet while we waited until it was time to go for our bus. We would happily stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to other travellers as it is very good value for money, has all the facilities you need and is clean and comfortable.

This was a nice find due to reading Trip Advisor. It is just north of downtown Raleigh, taking only a few minutes to drive in, but also off the Interstate making it easy to get o Durham and Chapel Hill. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is at a busy intersection, so we asked for and got a quiet room in the rear away from the major roads. The room was clean, had 2 good beds, with 3 pillows for each bed and there was a mini fridge and microwave. There were 2 computers in the lobby for getting on the internet. Breakfast was adequate, but there were no hot dishes. The bagels and muffins were very good. Also this was a reasonable place to stay--we were there 3 nights and would return the next time we are in the area.

My sisters & I came to Raleigh for a concert. We had been fighting traffic & not leaving much time to check in before the concert. We found the hotel very easily & walked into the lobby to a smiling face behind the counter. We asked about a cab. She was very accommodating by asking us where & when then told us to call her & she would line it up. What a sweet front desk clerk! ( I wish I would have remembered her name so I could give her props) We requested 2nd floor to block out street noise which it did. The hallway had a weird smell, not a horrible odor...just overpowering like it was covering up something else. Our room had nice decor & was very clean as well as the bathroom. We got back from the concert late & was happy to find that the hotel was still quiet & there were no bad characters hanging around. Once again, a very nice man at the front desk gave us a number for late night delivery. We asked in the morning for a late check out & was told that was fine. Breakfast was good for a continental 'cause they had "make your own waffles". YUMMY! The breakfast area was very clean as well as the lobby bathroom. We were gladly given extra towels by housekeeping ( with a smile).
VERY NICE HOTEL. VERY REASONABLE PRICE. EXTRAORDINARY STAFF!!!
