I had an enjoyable 4-night stay here for the second time in 6 months two weeks ago. For western travellers, or if you regularly stay at Shangri-La (or similar) hotels, it is comfortable and familiar. The rooms are a good size and clean, and the hotel has good facilities and restaurant. It’s a little pricey, and you can definitely get much cheaper accommodation elsewhere.
The breakfast buffet in the restaurant on the 2nd level is good which caters to all kinds of eastern and western palettes. The Horizon Club executive level breakfast buffet on the 26th floor is more limited, but also more peaceful and with spectacular views, if you’re lucky enough to have access to this.

Its location isn’t its best feature. It’s kind of remote, out of the main central area, west of Yangzhou, in what feels like a relatively new-ish development, with some vacant blocks and construction going on around the neighbourhood.
Yangzhou is quite picturesque. Especially near and around the Slender West Lake. But the hotel is quite far from this part of Yangzhou. Which might not matter if you’re there only for a short stay and there for business spending most of your time with your customers/clients or business associates.
It does seems to be the arts precinct, with the Yangzhou Museum, Culture Centre and International Exhibition Centre across the road from the hotel (none of which I’ve had a chance to visit yet), and a sports stadium beside it. And there’s a decent shopping centre (Living Mall) a short 5-10min walk from the hotel, with a variety of shops and restaurants.

I like to run, and the gym is fairly spacious and well equipped. But the temperature is always too warm for my liking. And I only discovered on my last night that there is an exercise path around the lake directly across from the hotel (through the Yangzhou Museum entrance grounds). I estimate it would probably be around a 1.0km lap around it. It looks very nice and I look forward to running it on my next visit.

Overall service in the hotel from reception to gym to restaurant was very pleasant and friendly, and an adequate amount of English proficiency.

Overall had a nice stay at this hotel. We got a corner room with windows on two sides facing the adjacent stadium. Our view was unfortunately blocked by some plastic covering our windows probably for some construction.

Our room was spacious and very nicely furnished, though in obvious need of a renovation as we noticed chips and discoloration in the power outlets and furnishings. The lobby area was very nice and made for a good place to relax.

Excellent 10 day stay for business trip in the Shangri La Yangzhou, the area is continually being updated and new shopping, music bars and restaurants being added all the time. The hotel staff and facilities are superb the club lounge staff cannot do enough for you.
The only addition I would suggest could improve the hotel is a lobby lounge bar for residents and guests as the lobby bar is huge and impersonal when not many people in the bar.

Every time I come to Shangri-La, the people are always the stand-out. Its a nice hotel for sure, but the people make it so much more enjoyable. Nothing is ever a problem when you ask for something. Even the housekeeping during my last visit was excellent. Often on a hot day she left an extra water bottle (3 rather than the standard 2) as she noticed I'd always take some with me for the day's work ahead in the heat. When I left a partly-opened bottle of wine in the room that was left over from dinner, the next day I came back and a wine glass was placed next to the bottle. Small things, but nice and very attentive. Restaurant staff are always a pleasure and whatever asked during (buffet) breakfast is always actioned with a smile and after a few days the staff know and there is no need to ask anymore. Horizon Club staff on the 26th floor are the most friendly you'll ever meet. Martina on my last visit always came ask if she could get me another drink or anything else, during 'happy hour'. The only thing I'm not overly impressed with at Shangri-La is the food offering for dinner, both a-la-carte and buffet, however this is personal and others might have a different view. All up a great place to stay and I will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Best views are rooms that overlook the lake. The higher floors certainly don't have any traffic noice.

This was a great hotel room. I had a king deluxe room and it was great. It was a king sized bed with a nice tv, chair and desk area. The bathroom was lovely. Full shower and bathtub. The water pressure was great and could run the gamut of temperatures. I prefer very hot water so it was nice that the shower/bath could reach those temperatures.
