Splendid view from east-facing units overlooking Pointe St. Pierre, a former fishing village now harboring a sea-bird sanctuary, and the Atlantic Ocean. A busy highway lies between the motel and the Point. The peeled log construction is unique and befitting the name. 3 meals a day are available at the restaurant. The quality at dinner was adequate. The staff is friendly and accommodating to requests. Facilities and comfort inside the room were well below expectations for the price. Beds were saggy and uncomfortable, pillows flat. There was no mini frig, no ice bucket, and no ice machine for guests. We had perishable food to store. The motel provided a little ice in a plastic glass when we asked, and we used a plastic bag as an ice bucket. The shower enclosure was lined with tongue-in-groove exterior plastic siding. The room had a musty smell, and we wondered if moisture had gotten behind this siding to create mildew. Lighting for reading was inadequate at all fixtures. The easy chair was so weak that the cushion sank halfway to the floor when sat upon. Take binoculars for scenery and birds.
