This motel is under new management as of about a month ago - so we kept in mind that the new owner/manager is only responsible for customer service at this stage, as he's probably inherited some issues!

He was a little stressed in case we wanted breakfast in the morning, as he had a big load of people all wanting breakfast at the same time. He was very cheerful and pleasant when we booked in, but pretty strung out the second time we stopped in to check about where we leave the key as we were leaving early.

The rooms are very dated, and everything has seen better days - eg the mattresses and pillows were quite hard, the towels pretty scratchy etc - but that's why it's cheap right? It reminded me of some of the motels we'd visit when I was a kid in 70s/80s!

Our room was pretty much in the middle of the block, away from the road, so our only noise issue was from the people next dood having full-on conversations at 5.45am in the morning and late at night – hardly the motel's issue, but wasn't helped by only having bathroom louvres and a thin bathroom door to try and block out their loudness.

Overall, we'd stay here again just because it's cheap and no frills.

Room Tip: Away from the road to be less noisy

We stayed here one night during our trip to Maryborough. We found the room clean and comfortable. Also very quiet so had a good nights sleep. The owners were very nice and helpful. We were offered milk for tea/coffee and the WiFi password on arrival. Also met the adorable dogs. As we don't drive and didn't have anywhere to store our luggage whilst exploring Maryborough, the museums shut around 3 so we didn't have time the day we arrived, they let us leave our luggage in reception. This was very much appreciated as the motel is about a 20-30 minute walk into the centre and it was very hot. On return we were welcome to chill in reception for a bit before making the walk back. Great staff and would recommend staying here.

Greeted by most adorable receptionists - Tommy and Coco! We used this motel for the location and the price was reasonable. Beds are comfy, aircon and little fridge that fits two six packs of beer perfectly. If you want to go for a picnic, they can pack you a lunch!

Some would say it's old but it was very clean, comfortable bed, lounge, mostly quiet in room 6 but some traffic noise and earplugs take care of that, the hot breakfast is superb, great value! We stayed 5 days and room was cleaned everyday. Will stay there in future for sure.

Room Tip: Most rooms are away from busiest road.

The room was a bit small, but this was expected with the budget price, and as a one-night stopover it wasn't a problem. It was quite clean and adequate, and the bed was comfortable. The owner of the motel and his cute dog were friendly. Being on the left side of the road was a bonus, as the traffic was heavy. There was a restaurant but it looked permanently closed (never got around to asking about it) but breakfast could be ordered to the room. The only really close restaurant was Red Rooster (not one of our favourites), and my husband wasn't feeling well enough to walk further, and neither of us felt like driving any further in the heavy traffic on the main road at that hour (around 5.30pm I think), but a five minute walk took me to Domino's Pizza (there was also an Asian takeaway nearby, which looked interesting but the pizza scent was tempting and we ended up with a very tasty one on a gluten free base). There was also a hotel offering meals a shorter walk in the other direction, but the traffic was so relentless it seemed that crossing the road might be quite a survival feat, and there were no traffic lights handy (the same would apply if we had felt inclined to visit Red Rooster). It only took about half an hour to drive on to Hervey Bay the following morning and on to Fraser Island.

Room Tip: Away from the main road is probably best if traffic is still heavy at night. We were away from the road and had no problem sleeping
