It's a budget motel that is clean and the bed was comfortable. Had no problems other than I won't drink International Roast coffee. Owner was pleasant and check in was quick. You don't get champagne for beer prices and I was quite satisfied. Shopping Centre and takeaway an easy walk.

My husband & I stayed at this great little motel after quite a few big days on the road!
We were welcomed by the very friendly owner who went out of her way to assist us in securing our large trailer on site.
Our room was very clean and the bed also very comfortable and nice pillows !
We certainly cannot complain at all! Yes you are on a main road but we heard very little traffic noise, certainly nothing to disturb our sleep
We will certainly be back on our next trip south.
Again we thank you for going above and beyond to assist us. Please ensure when you get a break head to the Whitsundays and we will be very happy to take care of your little one ;-)
Kindest Regards John & Linda

FIRTS IMPRESSIONS.
looks old and dated. Like stepping back in time to the 70's.
THE ROOM.
It's old and it shows. Not suitable if your a bit of a princess. However it is spotlessly clean and comfortable. It has everything you need for a short stay, your room even gets made up daily.
Complaints of traffic noise? Not from me. Yes you can hear traffic but seriously not as bad as some have said.
BIG ISSUE
Each room has a small table and 2 chairs out the front complete with..... AN ASHTRAY! ...... guys, just because the motel looks like a throwback to the 70's it doesn't actually mean it is the 70's. Get with the times and ditch other ashtrays and make the whole site a no smoking zone inside and out. ..... I do not want to wake up to the smell of cigaret smoke wafting in my window at 6am from the smoker 2 doors down!
WOULD I GO BACK?
Yes but only if the ashtrays go off site.
Until then, no. Shame really that others old dirty habits are deemed acceptable by the owners.
SUMMARY.
Smoking issues aside this place offers basic low cost accomodation and delivers what's on the label. If your not a princess and like second hand smoke you will have a comfortable stay.

Maryborough City Motel, 138 – 140 Ferry St, Cnr Ferry and Howard Streets, Maryborough. August 2016. Price is refreshing at $89 per night for a double bed and single bed in room. Old motel but with clean well presented rooms although a little more effort to cleaning around the washbasin taps would not go astray. Microwave and Toaster provided. Wi-Fi available but unfortunately it was a pain to use to the point as it would not accept login details. Swimming pool. Bar-b-que available. Friendly manager/owner. No credit card details, cash or drivers licence details required as security deposit. Under cover parking for all rooms. Sufficient towel rails. One of the best shower and washbasin layout areas that I have come across and includes a seat to sit on or rest foot foot on for foot drying etc. Located reasonably close to shops 1 kilometre. Unfortunately traffic noise is unbearable to the extent that sleeping was difficult because of heavy vehicle noise. Noise could be reduced by installing high noise barrier gate across main entry and using the side street entry after dark. I offered no protest regarding the following – I paid cash in advance for two nights stay, (mistake number 1), only ever pay for the first night until you find out that the room is going to be OK and avoid the conflict of a cancellation fee. When we had little sleep because of the traffic noise I approached the manager/owner and said we would like to cancel the second night because of the unacceptable noise level. Remembering we paid cash in advance, I was quoted a 24 hour cancellation policy and after some consideration they asked me if a $80 refund on the $89 fee was acceptable. In the interest of non-conflict I said yes and thank you. Our next day was lost because we slept most of the day to recover from the night before. The traffic noise is not the motels management fault but the absence of a noise barrier is the problem of owner of the building. Despite the good points about the unit, the noise issue makes it difficult to recommend staying there. Other motels in Maryborough are located on the same road and would need to be assessed for noise levels inside the units. Look for those with double glazing windows and noise barriers.
Because of the above we left Maryborough that day instead of staying another day as tourists.
