A spectacular short walk through a canyon on the Ovens River, easily accessible from Bright township. Has a couple of short steep sections.

The Canyon Walk is a very enjoyable walk along the Ovens River. There are paths on both sides of the river and a suspension bridge so you can change to the other side to return. There are interpretive signs on the left bank to describe the old gold diggings.

This is a nice walk with some level of fitness required as the path does dip down onto the edge of the river at one point. The stone walkway is a nice touch and the whole area full of history as well as natural beauty.

We combined the Rail Trail with the Canyon Trail after breakfast and enjoyed the developing autumn colours then a lovely riverside walk. Finished off with a good coffee at the River Deck cafe.
