All in all, the property known as Sea-duction is a nice place. We had some initial problems with the internet, cable and phone service. Basically we did not have any of the three. It seemed to be a bit of a runaround to get the problems resolved. I called the rental company and left a message about the problem, then stopped by in person as a requested follow-up and then had to call again in order to get them to follow thru with the call to the cable company. The problem was the result of either the previous guests or the cleaning company disconnecting and moving necessary equipment. I would have appreciated better customer service from the rental agent for this problem. After that initial incident, the vacation was much smoother. The location of this property is far enough away from Surf City to be considered quiet but close enough to a number of restaurants and stores to be convenient. The beach was beautiful, the house was spacious (could use a larger TV in the living area upstairs). The outdoor furniture could use updating as many of the Adirondack chairs on the decks are cracked and flimsy. The upstairs deck railing is not real secure. A gentle push elicits a lot of movement. When looking at the posts that are attached to the railing, it is apparent that they are not grounded or supported in any manner other than being secured to the decking. A few unaware people leaning against it may be enough to cause it to fail. the beach access is across the street but is a little tough for those who may have mobility problems. The wooden walkway to the beach tails off at the top of a relatively steep dune so you must walk up and down the sand upon entry and exit. There is a better public beach access a few houses down so those who aren't quite as spry as they used to be can access the beach there. Again, I am not saying this is bad rental but since the place is up for sale, it may not be receiving the attention it deserves. My only complaint that can't be controlled by the rental company or the owners is the fact that their are some inconsiderate guests on the Island. Fireworks seems to be an every evening event for a lot of vacationing people. I'm not a big fan but I understand why some people choose to shoot them off. I do however have to draw the line at firing them off around midnight. One of the reasons I love Topsail Island is b/c it has always been a quiet relaxing place. People who visit need to be considerate of everyone else instead of just themselves. Fireworks up to 10-10:30pm I can accept (begrudgingly) but between 11:30 and midnight, is rude and unacceptable. Hopefully this isn't what Topsail is going to become b/c then I'll have to hunt for another peaceful paradise.
