When I called to make a reservation, I asked specific questions concerning their location because my husband and I had stayed at a little Inn in Waynesville and wanted to stay at the same place for our 5th Anniversary. When we arrived, it was not the same place. When we called to cancel, we told her that we would appreciate not being charged, that it was our 5th wedding anniversary and that we would make sure and stay there the next time we travelled to Waynesville. The lady at the desk was very rude and hung up on us. We would have given it a try but no way will this happen now!

This is the coolest place to stay. We are from Charleston S.C. We had booked a hotel in Asheville, & they were seriously jacking up the price. These hotel's were taking advantage of people's misfortune. I was so lucky to find this retro gem. The prices were less than half of what the others were charging! It is close to everything. I can remember staying at motels like this as a child. The owners are so kind, & very accommodating. My mother is 86, was not feeling well at all. They let us take our time to get out. The rooms are super clean. It is a step back in time. These iconic places, that represent true Americana, are disappearing everyday. For someone my age it is a treat to go back to the good ole days. You will pay for all the useless trappings of the other hotels! If that is what you like, you pay $450.00 a night. I'll be at the Parkway Inn.

This is an old, tired motel. The lady on the desk was elderly and not very mobile and, although we were prepaid she could only find one receipt for our two rooms. However she checked us in. Our room was old fashioned with a musty smell but seemed clean. The bedcovers were modern and our beds comfortable but that was where it stopped ( our son's bed, in another room was uncomfortable and he hardly slept). The bathroom was very old, with a makeshift glass- block shower with only hot and cold taps to regulate the temperature. Good luck if you can do it! The fifty year old hand basin would not drain in less than 20 minutes and was basically unusable. I went to the desk to report it and asked for a plunger to see if I could free it. The lady eventually returned with one which I am sure was used for toilets! But, at 10:00 pm there was nothing else to do - she could not do anything. The plunger made no difference and by this time the office was locked and in darkness so a change of room was not possible. This was just unacceptable! There was a hairdryer fixed to the wall in the bathroom but no outlet to plug it into - ridiculous. There were no electrical outlets in the room to charge our phones, iPads etc. Electric wires were festooned over a doorway to a wall lamp that did not work in a clearly failed do-it-yourself effort.
There was a fridge and a microwave but the carpet made it difficult to open the fridge door.
The windows were old, metal framed, single glazed - ill fitting and useless at reducing the noise from the nearby highway ( clearly a motor cycle event was being held locally!)
No breakfast but coffee from 8:00 am. Despite being next to the office the wifi was unreliable.
When I complained again about the non-draining sink the lady said she did not realise and would call a plumber. I find it hard to believe that anyone staying in that room (26) had simply put up with a useless sink and not mentioned it. She apologized but did not offer anything else - a partial refund would have been reasonable!
This motel should either be closed or completely refitted to bring it into the 21st century.
We would not recommend anyone to stay here unless you are desperate!!

This hotel is very plain and harkens back to the 1950's. Reminded me of my Grandmother's home when I was a child. That said, the place is acceptable and the price is certainly reasonable. Not a bad choice.

The Parkway Inn has basic rooms with basic amenities. When it's hot and humid as it was during our stay, they can seem damp, but the cleaning ladies did a great job tending to things every day. The design is old school, and the rooms have few (and sometimes inconveniently placed) outlets. The beds are more normal "home-style" beds than hotel-style beds, which I enjoyed. AC, lights, shower, and fridge worked fine. The thing that I like least about the hotel is the difficulty getting in and out of the parking spaces & parking lot. The spaces are small, and guests in trucks seem unable to keep their larger vehicles in a single space. Also, of the three entrances to the parking area, one is sloped so that most vehicles drag bottom when entering and exiting, and one is in a curve that makes it dangerous to exit. Office service was friendly and prompt.

Room tip: All rooms are the same distance from the road (not far). The best option would be a room with no neighbors, I suppose.
