Our 3 night stay was delightful. Chuck and Dennis were wonderful hosts and made us very comfortable. This beautiful house was above and beyond our high expectations. Treat yourself to feeling pampered; from the beautiful rooms, to comfortable bed, immaculate/clean living space, chocolates, wine for happy hour, chocolate chip cookies after a long evening out, and outstanding breakfasts. Convenient walking distance to restaurants and great parking next to Inn. We would love to return.
The Verandas is truly the Gold Standard for B & Bs. It should be the uncontested #1 in Wilmington and environs. The classic hospitality of the proprietors, Chuck and Dennis, the very comfortable rooms, the convenient location, the fantastic breakfast and the "home away from home" feel of the inn should not be missed.
The home is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are spacious and immaculate. The bathrooms were large and updated and the bed as comfortable as they come. Chuck was a wonderful host and the breakfast was excellent as well. The location is perfect. Not too close to downtown that you hear the late nite crowd but a short enough walk that you are convenient to everything on front street. I would definately recommend this b&b to everyone and we will definately be staying again.
There was terrific value in our stay when considering excellent advice for First Timers;
Free Parking & Walking to Downtown; Fantastic Breakfasts; and Beautiful Decor.
On top of this were the drinks/chats/ and stories by our host (and we were lucky enough to meet two Presenters for a Museum Series) and the wonderful selection of books.
My wife really enjoyed herself hearing about the two year build before first Customers arrived
1997. They really love Wilmington and it shows. Chuck also knows the area like New Bern and Southport. A Great Stay.
My wife and I stayed at The Verandas July 2011 and had a great experience. The owners and staff were warm and inviting and were exceptional hosts. The entire B&B was well maintained and painstakingly restored (incredible before and after photos). Notable features included period antiques throughout the entire property which were of good quality. Outdoor sitting areas were a nice place to relax and socialize with other guests. We enjoyed a very large room which was located on the third floor which provided a quiet and relaxing experience. Breakfast each day was exceptional and memorable which we enjoyed. Each evening, different selections of wine and cookies were available as well as sodas and water throughout the day. The inn is located in the heart of the historic residential district and was surrounded by other well maintained and restored Victorian properties. We were a short walk to the downtown area, waterfront, and all restaurants. We have stayed at 3 other Wilmington B&Bs and we voted this one #1 and without hesitation would return for another visit.
